The Cliffs Hotel and Spa Position Description Position: Gift Shop Manager Department: Rooms Status: Full-time, Hourly Reports to: Rooms Division Manager Position Summary: The Gift Shop Manager is responsible for assisting the Rooms Division Manager in overseeing all aspects of the Salt + Sundry operations. They will manage and coach staff; oversee buying and merchandising efforts; hire, train, and schedule employees; and ensure guest satisfaction. The Gift Shop Manager will meet these expectations while upholding The Cliffs' Mission, Values, and Basics. Essential Functions of the job: Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and scheduling Salt + Sundry employees to meet the needs of the business Coach and counsel staff using Cliffs performance management tools to ensure all employees uphold Cliffs' policies, Mission, Values, and Basics Assist in managing daily operations and sales transactions of the Salt + Sundry in order to maximize sales revenue Manage and train employees on booking spa reservations, and in product knowledge to drive sales Ensure sales and labor forecasting and staffing levels are aligned with the volume of business and hours of operation Partner with Spa Manager to link spa membership programs, special spa events, and loyalty initiatives to drive sales revenue in Salt + Sundry and in Día Feliz Spa Partner with Rooms Division Manager in using company guest satisfaction measurement tools to follow up on any Salt + Sundry related issues, and to recognize team when delivering on exceptional service expectations Communicate regularly with the Spa Manager, Rooms Division Manager, and GM as it relates to operations, guest issues, and sales revenue Ensure Salt + Sundry merchandise is ordered and replenished in a timely manner, while meeting budgetary guidelines Analyze inventory weekly to track what drives sales revenue and taking steps to meet the needs of guests Use in-house inventory management tools to input all purchases and pricing in a timely manner Conduct monthly inventory as directed by Rooms Division Manager and Hotel Controller Reconcile purchases with Rooms Division Manager and Hotel Controller to ensure credit card documentation is in place Assist with meeting labor and payroll expectations, including monitoring meal and breaks, overtime, and meeting pay period deadlines Attend, assist, and contribute to management and departmental meetings as directed by Rooms Division Manager Monitors usage of supplies and equipment, and utilizes in-house communication management tools to ensure repair/reorder/maintenance of such supplies and equipment Additional Job Duties: Flexible work schedule Able to work weekends, some nights, and holidays Education, Experience, Skills: High school diploma Working knowledge of guest services in a luxury hotel or retail setting 1-2 years previous experience as a supervisor or manager is preferred 1-2 years previous experience as a buyer is preferred Previous knowledge using Book4Time point of sale and scheduling software is preferred Excellent command of English language Ability to work with people effectively Ability to multitask and work in mentally demanding situations RBS certified Physical Requirements: Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (eight or more hours). Ability to lift small packages (excess of 50 pounds). Be able to stretch, bend, bend and lift frequently up to 40 pounds in weight. Ability to work in stressful situations.
