The United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation (USNA AA&F) in Annapolis, Maryland is seeking Senior Director , Alumni Engagement and Outreach Programs to join our growing engagement team in support of Alumni Networks, which plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining active connections between members of our alumni community. These networks also provide meaningful engagement opportunities. The Senior Director for Alumni Engagement and Outreach Programs is a dynamic leadership role that requires expertise and experience in growing and maintaining relationships with Alumni Chapters while assisting with facilitating engagement opportunities and membership with Shared Interest Groups, Parents Clubs and Classes. The Senior Director coordinates and implements programs for and with alumni, parents, and friends, complimenting and supporting foundation efforts. This is an exempt position that works under the direct supervision of the Executive Vice President for Engagement and Communications for the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and will work in coordination with the Engagement team to maximize our engagement opportunities and activities. This position pays a competitive salary commensurate with experience and is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus of up to 6%, when applicable. You would also be eligible for a generous benefits plan which includes medical, dental, vision, an FSA, an HSA, a fully vested 403(b) retirement plan with employer matching, 22 days of accrued paid time off (PTO) per fiscal year, 14 paid holidays per calendar year, group life insurance, short-term & long-term disability, identity theft protection, and annual opportunities for professional development. Although not guaranteed, certain additional benefits may be offered through the Naval Academy, such as use of certain recreational facilities (including the Brigade Sports Complex gym, marina, and indoor/outdoor pools). This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located in downtown Annapolis, near the U.S. Naval Academy. In June 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association and Foundation will move into new modern offices in the Alumni Center , which are currently under construction on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis. ABOUT THE UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY (USNA) ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AND FOUNDATION The United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and the United States Naval Academy Foundation are two independent, not-for-profit corporations sharing a single president and CEO and operating as a fully integrated organization in support of the Naval Academy and its mission. The organization's focus and core competencies are engagement and philanthropy in pursuit of complementary and closely aligned missions. Our Mission: The course set by Alumni Association founders in 1886 rings true today as our mission is to serve and support the United States, the Naval Service, the Naval Academy, and academy alumni by: Furthering the highest standards at the Naval Academy, Seeking out; informing, encouraging, and assisting outstanding, qualified young men and women to pursue careers as officers through the Naval Academy, and Initiating and sponsoring activities that will perpetuate the history, traditions, memories, and growth of the Naval Academy and bind alumni together in support of the highest ideals of command, citizenship, and the government. Major Duties and Responsibilities Assists with all Engagement Operations across the Alumni Association and Foundation, the US Naval Academy and Naval Academy Athletic Association. Manage and execute Distinguished Chapter Award Recognition Engage closely with the Naval Academy Athletic Association and Yard personnel on the promotion of athletic events and help coordinate speaker requests from chapters when appropriate. Represent the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association by attending events and programs as needed and requested. Responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Alumni Association's Strategic Plan 2030 and ongoing review and implementation of the Enterprise Operating Plan. Alumni Chapter Groups/Shared Interest Groups/Parent Clubs/Classes Oversee and provide stewardship to alumni chapters that enable them to be engaged with the Naval Academy, Alumni Association and Foundation Managing liaison between the Alumni Association Chapter Groups, Shared Interest Groups, Parent Clubs, and Classes Provide support in the formation, development and engagement of new and revitalized chapters Support Information Technology rollout to Chapters, SIGs and Parent Club volunteer leaders to provide an enhance toolset for volunteers' leadership and engagement Direct Chapters' administrative requirements including providing our database information for individual Chapters and assist with record keeping for statistical and informational purposes Coordinate, plan and execute a regional engagement strategy to include visits to Chapters Provide preparation material for USNA Superintendent, President/CEO, and senior Alumni Association and Foundation leadership Recommend annual budgets for strategic chapter travel across the enterprise Plan, prepare and execute the annual volunteer Chapter, SIG, Parent, and Class leader training events Conduct the Triennial chapter count producing the required number of Large Chapter Trustees Identify, cultivate and involve potential volunteer leaders for chapters as well as other groups and initiatives Work with appropriate enterprise staff to coordinate shared programming, activities, and engagement opportunities that foster strong relationships Alumni Association Membership Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship to membership outreach staff Manage all aspects of member retention, renewal, recruitment and enrollment Execute the plan to grow membership and engagement annually in a multiyear strategic plan Manage the membership portion of key events, including induction and out-processing days Compile regular and ad hoc reports to track membership and identify key trends. Interpret data and present findings Support satellite organizations (chapters, clubs, etc) in the collection and use of data;assist these organizations in the implementing new data and digital solutions Team Leadership Administer and manage policies, standards, practices and security measures for subordinate staff as well as Alumni Volunteer Leadership to assure effective and consistent chapter operations Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Proven leadership and management experience with a track record of success Ability to represent the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association in a variety of engagement venues Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize Excellent verbal and written communication skills (letters, email and telephone communications). Knowledge of and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Able to develop written correspondence and demonstrate reasonable verbal and written communication skills. A sincere and enthusiastic belief in the mission of the U.S. Naval Academy Ability to travel 30-40 days per year and work weekends and some holidays as required Preferred Qualifications USNA graduate and experience with USNA staff preferred Engagement experience in the college/university setting Communications experience Proficiency/adaptability with Constituent Relationship Management database/software.
