Recent career paths include: Detail Center to Valvoline Express Manager to Chrysler Service Advisor Detail Center to Brake & Alignment to Chrysler Parts to Chrysler Parts Manager Detail Center to Used Car Tech Mechanical to Chrysler Parts Detail Center to Hyundai Service Advisor Detail Center to Brake & Alignment to GM Service Detail Center to Body Shop Apprentice to Body Shop Tech Detail Center to Paint Tech Apprentice to Paint Tech ESSENTIAL DUTIES Washes vehicle exterior, cleans interior and exterior windows and wipes down doorjambs. Applies wax to auto body and wipes or buffs surface. Vacuums interior of vehicles to remove loose dirt and debris. Cleans upholstery, rugs, and other surfaces, using appropriate cleaning agents, applicators and cleaning devices. Cleans engine and engine compartments with steam-cleaning equipment and various cleaning agents. Applies special-purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer's recommendations. Restores appearance of engine area, rugs and upholstery, and painted surfaces. Uses touch-up paint, dyes, and other appropriate materials. Uses proper eye, hand and body protection when using products that require protection. Applies dressing on tires and tire wells. Ensures proper stickers are displayed in the vehicle's window. Keeps work area neat and clean. Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner. Prepares and applies automotive touch up paint to vehicles. Shuttles new and used vehicles to the appropriate car lots. Reports any safety issues immediately to management. Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery and poor mechanical operation. A valid driver's license is required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to use hands to handle and reach. Frequent walking, stooping and crouching. Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. Occasionally required to lift and/or move 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT There is regular exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Occasionally, you may be exposed to chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
