LIFT Program Description Participants are ages 18 and up The LIFT (Leadership, Internship, Friendship, Transition) Internship program is a full-day program for young adults with supportive needs, promoting development of vocational skills and acquisition of valuable work experience. In a structured and nurturing environment, participants will learn social skills and behavioral strategies to support their success in the workplace. In combination with learning these strategies, interns will practice and apply the concepts they are learning through a hands-on internship at the JCC. Throughout the program, we will also focus on the continued development of daily living skills and we incorporate social and recreational opportunities into the program. Program Dates/Hours T, W, TH-9:15am-4:15pmJune 27th- August 3rdOff for the 4th of July Job Type Seasonal-Exempt Pay range $3,200-$3,700, covering program dates/hours as noted above, as well as up to 8 hours for pre-program training and post-program debrief and clean up. Specific pay will be determined based on skills and experience. Role Description The Lead Program Instructor is a key member of the team responsible for developing and delivering a creative and engaging curriculum that fosters LIFT participants' career exploration and employment readiness. Topics to be covered may include: maintaining a neat and orderly work space, eye-contact and body language at work, job appropriate dress and hygiene, workplace safety, and tips for handling challenging situations at work. The Lead Program Instructor will facilitate training exercises and will supervise participants as they practice specific job skills. This is a hands-on, direct service job. Responsibilities/Requirements  Assist the Director of Supportive Services in developing career exploration and work readiness curriculum Deliver curriculum to interns through a combination of classroom teaching, group activities, discussions, role playing, and individual activities. Help interns connect classroom content to on their on the job experiences Attend all relevant meetings, trainings, workshops, and outside events as needed. Aid the Director of Supportive Services with intake interviews Supervise and collaborate with Vocational Coaches related to participant engagement in internship Identify and assess participants' job related strengths and challenges; support participants by developing strategies to optimize success Ability to stand for up to 90 min at a time. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds for short distances. Flexibility to work indoors and outdoors. Desired Experience/Qualities  Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, Special Education or related field preferred At least 3 years working with the neurodiverse/IDD community required. Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills: ability to work collaboratively with other staff to achieve programmatic goals Strong leadership and mentorship skills Patience, adaptability and sense of humor
