Position Description: Trinity Valley School is seeking a full-time, fifth-grade history teacher to join the Middle School faculty beginning in the 2023 - 2024 school year. The fifth-grade history course focuses on ancient civilizations, including early groups of people from Mesopotamia to the Early Middle Ages. Through the study of geography, religion, achievements, politics, economics, and social life, students develop an appreciation for the contributions of ancient civilizations to our modern society. The Middle School at Trinity Valley School: The TVS Middle School strives to create a nurturing educational experience that meets the unique social, emotional, and cognitive needs of middle-school students while fostering creative problem solving, innovative thinking, and community connection each and every day. The Middle School is much more than a bridge to our Upper School. It provides a foundation of independence and leadership, and through a blend of traditional and unique programming, teachers provide students with the tools to be successful inside and outside of the classroom, and more importantly, in life. Accordingly, the school seeks candidates who love working with middle school-aged children and place students at the heart of their instructional practice . In addition to teaching duties, all our Middle School teachers serve as advisors and attend at least one grade-level Trojan Outdoor Experience (TOE) trip. Coaching opportunities are also available for qualified and interested applicants. Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements: The ideal candidate will: Hold a master's degree in history or related field (master's preferred; not required). Have significant teaching experience in and enthusiasm for the study of history , ideally in independent schools. Have experience and interest in designing innovative approaches to teaching and learning in the classroom. Fully support the four main objectives of the TVS Mission Statement . Recognize, embrace, and advance institutional goals for Equity, Inclusion, and Community . Create and promote inclusive learning spaces in which all students feel safe, honored, appreciated, and respected for who they are. Nurture a deep feeling of community through actions and attitudes. Balance caring and flexibility while holding students to high expectations. Exemplify personal and professional integrity.
