POSITION SUMMARY: The Camp Group Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operations of a seasonal day camp by planning and providing a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Program Director the Camp Group Supervisor: Guides summer camp staff in delivery of appropriate activities and overall supervision of children. Follows all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y (e.g., safety or emergency procedures, behavior guidance strategies, child abuse prevention policies); makes ADA accommodations where appropriate; maintains the program site, equipment, and required program records. Nurtures children through purposeful programming; plans activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are culturally relevant, are developmentally appropriate, and are consistent with the Y's values. Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with all youth; models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Provides opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and make decisions and choices within the program and provides daily opportunities for youth to reflect on and respond to their experiences. Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child's needs and progress; connects families to the Y. Attends and participates in camp activities, staff meetings, and staff training. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet one of the following education requirements: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college of university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 1 year of experience with children An associate's degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 2 years of experience with children An associate's degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field, and 3 years of experience with children. The ability to meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania Code Title 55 Chapter 3270 Public Welfare Group Supervisor qualifications and responsibilities Ability to communicate positively and professionally using the English Language, both spoken and written Ability to demonstrate good decision-making skills, intelligence, flexibility, emotional maturity, a positive outlook, enthusiasm, and a professional attitude towards all clients and staff Willingness to work with Administrator and Center Director to plan and implement a self-study, an action plan, program, and self-improvement leading to/and maintaining licensing and accreditation Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
