Global Village Academy is an innovative charter school. Students learn core content through language immersion in their choice of Spanish, Mandarin, or Russian (depending on the school). GVA is truly a "global village." Our immersion teachers come from all over the world, each bringing their unique culture and language into the classroom. United by a common core, students are challenged to become world class thinkers, capable of engaging ideas using multiple languages and cross-cultural perspectives, through internationally benchmarked curriculum spanning each language village. Purpose: The School Counselor will provide comprehensive counseling services to our students in grades K-5 . The ideal candidate will have an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our students. Essential Functions: Provide counseling services to elementary students to enhance personal, social, and academic success Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling, group counseling and development Coordinate and develop 504 plan in consultation with teachers and parents Participate in our MTSS (formerly RtI) process Refine school counseling program to meet the needs of elementary students Collect and report data as needed Engage in professional involvement in district meetings Attendance at parent teacher conferences Education, Experience, and Requirements: Master's Degree in School Counseling, or other related discipline including school psychology and school social work CDE License required with a School Counselor endorsement Excellent communication skills Strong skills working with families and community partners Experience working with 504 plans and students with disabilities Ability to maintain high ethical and legal standards in a school setting Knowledge of the ASCA National Model and willingness to develop and implement a comprehensive counseling program Charter school experience preferred Elementary experience preferred Familiarity with Infinite Campus preferred Experience with behavior de-escalation, intervention and conflict resolution preferred This description is not intended, and should not be construed, to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with this job.
