Our Physical Therapist Assistants specialize in both conservative and post-surgical management of all orthopedic conditions including diagnosis such as: sports injuries, fractures, rotator cuff repairs, hip arthroscopies, total joint replacements, spine conditions, work injuries and foot and ankle diagnosis. Whether a new graduate or experienced therapist, OrthoIllinois strives to offer a learning environment that fosters growth for a therapist with less experience as well as a challenge for the more seasoned graduate. We believe encouraging a collaborative work environment as well as working closely with our exceptional physician teams sets our therapists up for success. Our therapists work as a team and openly share ideas and recommendations. This collaborative team approach along with working one on one with patients to identify their individual goals has been a formula for success and patient satisfaction. This position will practice primarily at our Roxbury location in Rockford, IL. Primary Duties and Responsibilities : Provides physical therapy services and interventions within the scope of practice of the PTA and per the IL PTA Practice Act. Services include setting up and using exercise and modality equipment for patient use, performing manual techniques on various body parts, instructing and guarding patients in using assistive devices, coordinating patient transfers, and directing patients in various physical exercise or positioning Provides patient/caregiver education regarding diagnosis, therapeutic activities, and treatment plans Administers billing for physical therapy services provided per state and federal laws and individual insurance rules Confers with support staff to assist with services and interventions being provided Performs light cleaning and sanitizing of areas used during treatment with the assistance of support staff Collaborates with other licensed therapists, PTs, and PTAs together to provide exceptional patient care Assists with ordering equipment and supplies, training new staff and students, and other clinic issues as needed or requested by management Competencies: Technical Expertise: Possesses advanced skills to administer and evaluate standardized assessments, demonstrates ability to select and oversee evidence-based interventions, interprets surgical/operative reports and diagnostic reports (i.e., MRIs, EMGs), and documents the rehabilitation process in compliance with state and federal regulations Problem Solving: Creatively address a variety of issues for patients with unique injuries or post-op presentations; analyzes data to understand root cause and solves problems with multiple variables, both predictable and unpredictable Communication: Actively listens, interprets verbal and nonverbal cues, and seeks to understand; presents information clearly both verbally and written with the goal to inform and care for patients; able to adjust presentation as needed for audience Comprehension: Understands and applies detailed instructions and factual information in oral, written and/or diagram form Planning and Organizing: Manages a high volume of tasks at one time, prioritizing workload while maintaining a high level of attention to detail Adaptability: Maintains composure in a fast-paced environment, managing changing priorities and adjusting response appropriately to achieve goals; responds to change with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives. Judgment: Acts with the patient's best interest making timely and informed decisions in complex situations Collaboration: Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork, working towards solutions that generally benefits all involved parties Initiative: Plans ahead for upcoming opportunities or problems and takes appropriate action; consistently goes above and beyond expectations to improve patient care and organization results.
