Our Physical Therapists specialize in both conservative and post-surgical management of all orthopedic conditions including diagnosis such as: sports injuries, fractures, rotator cuff repairs, hip arthroscopies, total joint replacements, spine conditions, work injuries and foot and ankle diagnosis. Whether a new graduate or experience therapist, OrthoIllinois strives to offer a learning environment that fosters growth for a therapist with less experience as well as a challenge for the more seasoned graduate. We believe encouraging a collaborative work environment as well as working closely with our exceptional physician teams sets our therapists up for success. Our therapists work as a team and openly share ideas and recommendations. This collaborative team approach along with working one on one with patients to identify their individual goals has been a formula for success and patient satisfaction. The Physical Therapist is responsible for directing and carrying out individualized programs of physical therapy, including assessment of impairment, developing and implementing plan of care, providing education to patients/families/caregivers, and communication to maximize patient progress. The Physical Therapist is responsible for supervising Physical Therapy Assistants and Technicians. Primary Duties and Responsibilities : Provides quality, efficient, patient-centered physical therapy treatment according to the orders of the physician and plan of care Makes patient care decisions under the Physical Therapy scope of practice Develops and implements a plan of care taking into account the patient's history, context, and goals Effectively d ocuments daily treatments, evaluations, and completion of progress notes to support each patient's individualized plan of care utilizing EMR and other electronic formats; communicates verbally and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide efficient, effective, patient-centered care Ensures safety at discharge and continuation of progress by providing home exercise programs, family/caregiver instruction, recommendations for assistive equipment and recommendations for continued therapy at home Maintains patient confidence by keeping information confidential, keeping the work environment safe and clean, and adhering to infection control and other safety policies Attends and participates in organizational meetings for communication purposes and process improvement goals Interacts with a friendly demeanor with patients, caregivers and families, physicians, all clinic, therapy and practice staff, DME vendors, and nurse case managers Communicates with fellow therapists/therapy team, physicians, and administrative staff for scheduling, verification of benefits, managing supplies and equipment, and coordination of patient care Contributes to the department's development and progress by attending continuing education, assisting with training new hires, mentoring new grads, collaborating with colleagues, and developing protocols. Also participates in, develops and/or presents on research projects, and specialty-specific round tables Provides input into the processes that occur in the physical therapy department, and in the rehab department, as a whole Competencies: Technical Expertise: Possesses advanced skills to administer and evaluate standardized assessments, demonstrates ability to select and oversee evidence-based interventions, interprets surgical/operative reports and diagnostic reports (i.e., MRIs, EMGs), and documents the rehabilitation process in compliance with state and federal regulations Problem Solving: Creatively address a variety of issues for patients with unique injuries or post-op presentations; analyzes data to understand root cause and solves problems with multiple variables, both predictable and unpredictable Communication: Actively listens, interprets verbal and nonverbal cues, and seeks to understand; presents information clearly both verbally and written with the goal to inform and care for patients; able to adjust presentation as needed for audience Comprehension: Understands and applies detailed instructions and factual information in oral, written and/or diagram form Planning and Organizing: Manages a high volume of tasks at one time, prioritizing workload while maintaining a high level of attention to detail Adaptability: Maintains composure in a fast-paced environment, managing changing priorities and adjusting response appropriately to achieve goals; responds to change with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work activities and objectives. Judgment: Acts with the patient's best interest making timely and informed decisions in complex situations Collaboration: Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork, working towards solutions that generally benefits all involved parties Initiative: Plans ahead for upcoming opportunities or problems and takes appropriate action; consistently goes above and beyond expectations to improve patient care and organization results. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Physical Therapy, or Master's Degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy required 1 year of experience preferred Licensed in PT in the state of Illinois Experience working in an orthopedic outpatient therapy clinic setting preferred Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suites Familiarity with EMR and Physical Rehabilitation software Environmental/Working Conditions: Working environment is in an office/clinic setting. Patient Case Load: 100% outpatient Orthopedic both surgical and conservative Sports medicine and Work conditioning.
