ABOUT THIS ROLE The Mechanic will be responsible inspecting the vehicle's mechanical components and its engine, diagnosing problems with vehicles, and performing maintenance and repair work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles. DUTIES INCLUDE Active participation in East Bay Tire's Safety program to maintain a healthy and injury free environment Participate in training and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth Supply their own tools that are needed to perform the mechanical work that they have ASE certifications for. Responsible for alignment for passenger vehicles and light trucks - Hunter System with Hawkeye Responsible for passenger/light truck tire mounting and balancing Responsible for dealing with ARI and Donlen fleet management Responsible for mechanical services on light duty vehicles, including up to 1 Ton pick-ups Responsible for supplying own tools that are needed to perform the mechanical work that they have ASE certifications for Keep the shop and surrounding area clean and always maintained Maintain clean and organized work area. All tools and equipment should be put away and cleaned after use. Always maintain safe work area and report any safety issues immediately. Wear proper PPE as required for the work being performed. Must be able to properly look up labor hours using computer software provided by the company (Mitchell). Training will be provided if necessary. Must be able to properly diagnose mechanical issues Ability to perform tire related job duties as required or as needed, if no mechanical work is available Turn in service orders to be invoiced Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of products and services to provide accurate information to customers Adherence to company and safety policies and procedures East Bay Tire Co. is not responsible for lost, broken, or stolen tools. It is the responsibility of the mechanic to ensure that tools are properly stored and locked up. REQUIREMENTS ASE Certification, current on certification and up to date on trainings as required for certification 5 years working experience in mechanical field, experience in brakes, suspension, etc. Must have own tools required to perform job duties 2 years' experience working in the tire industry preferred but not required Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required. Must have a strong commitment to achieving goals with a teamwork mentality Must have great communication/interpersonal skills Must be motivated with a good business sense and understanding Must have good decision making/judgment skills Must be extremely organized, detail orientated. Must be a team player, with the initiative and ability to do what it takes to get the job done Computer skills with a variety of programs including Excel, Outlook, and various other computer systems Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record Must be a self-starter, be willing to take initiative and willing to work without direct supervision Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds as required for the job Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and work independently on tight deadlines with multiple priorities Head Mechanics must be able to lead, manage, train and motivate team members within the mechanical department Clean MVR LOCATION This position will work out of various locations for East Bay Tire. PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to: Work in an environment where there can be medium to loud noise Routinely use computer equipment including monitors, keyboards, etc. Frequently sit and stand to perform work, visit offices, attend meetings, and put supplies away, pack boxes or put materials together Frequently work in various positions including standing, sitting, laying on ground, squatting, bending, hunched over, or reaching. This position will required you to kneel, twist, stretch, reach, and work in confined spaces.
