Overview The Project Manager leads a multi-disciplined product development team, driving activities, and ensuring completion of all project objectives and deliverables . The Project Manager ensures the team stays on task, communicates effectively, and delivers. The Project Manager maintains a budget and schedule throughout the project and drives the team to meet timeline and cost goals. This person is responsible for communicating regularly with executive management and stakeholders via dashboards as well as via written and in-person updates.This individual should be capable of working with minimal supervision, seeking input from management when necessary. Must adapt well to a changing work environment since product development projects are flexible and can require fast pivots. This person needs to be a self-starter who brings a great attitude to work daily. Someone who does not let obstacles slow them down but instead sees them as an opportunity for active problem-solving. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include Determine and define project scope and objectives Build a business case and present it to executive management Break down work and predict resources needed to reach objectives (labor and expense) Work with team to build a product cost estimate that predicts product cost at launch Prepare a budget and track project cost (labor & expenses.) Drive team to meet budget. Prepare and maintain project schedule. Adjust when changes occur. Prepare and present project gate presentations and seek approval through each gate Provide project updates via dashboards and via written and in-person communication Act as "process owner" for the new product development process Utilize industry best practices and process related to developing a new product and introducing a product into manufacturing Manage a portfolio of multiple projects and ensure prioritization is kept Mentor other project managers (some who may be part-time for smaller projects) Create new product development process training material and train team members on the process Manage timekeeping system and time sheets as they relate to NPD projects Key Characteristics, Competencies and Skills Skillful communicator that can speak with right level of detail at all management levels Experience working with product development teams and introducing new products into manufacturing Comfortable working with cross-functional teams potentially across multiple time zones Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to stay positive and constructive in tense situations. Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline Strong familiarity with project management methodologies, tools, and best practices Strength working with collaboration tools (such as Atlassian Confluence and MS Teams) Service-oriented and humble attitude Qualifications 5+ years of project management experience related to new product development and manufacturing launch Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
