Respiratory Therapist (Certified/Registered) - Full-Time Summary: Using the cognitive skills of application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation, the Team Respiratory Therapist is responsible for conducting discipline specific assessment and providing appropriate treatments/services to patients in accordance with established standards of practice and performance. Reports to: Cardiopulmonary Manager Titles Supervised: NA Essential Duties & Responsibilities Under general supervision of the Cardiopulmonary Manager, delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring and various medical gases therapy primarily to critical care patients in the SCU. Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures to SCU and General Practice Unit patients including both respiratory and cardiac testing. Maintains clinical expertise for Departmental assignments at various business units throughout MMH, as assigned Communicates effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians and other system employees as needed, regarding patient care needs. Performs daily QC checks and conducts preventative maintenance on department equipment. Adequately documents all aspects of patient care. Completes necessary and accurate patient billing information. Additional Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities and Expectations Comply with all hospital policies and procedures as applicable for position including employee handbook, department and administrative policies and procedures, goals and objectives for self, department and performance improvement, safety compliance program, HIPAA and confidentiality, accreditation, and survey standards and infection control. Provide exceptional customer service to all external (patients, families, etc.) and internal (co-workers, other departments, physicians, etc.) customers. Participate in staff meetings and serve on hospital committees/teams as appropriate. Perform work in effective, organized, accountable and competent manner including following oral and written instructions. Be respectful, courteous and caring in all interactions with others. Demonstrate initiative and ownership in performance of duties and be self-starter. Pass competency and proficiency testing as required by department or hospital including computer based testing. Adapt to changing work assignments and comfortable serving diverse community Promote hospital services in service delivery area. Function well under stressful conditions involving other departments, workload, etc. Keep knowledge and skills current via education activities, in-services and other training. Report to next shift or manager any problems or areas of concern to correct. Perform related duties as needed including assisting others with their work.
