Job Description SOUTH BAY SANDBLASTING & TANK CLEANING, INC. located in San Diego, CA is a ship building and ship repair subcontractor looking to hire an experienced or entry level Technician for our Technical Flush Department Job Summary The purpose of the Technician position is to perform all aspects of setting-up flushing equipment, operating equipment (pumps, filters, calibrated equipment, oil processing heaters, etc.) monitoring flushing activities, and breaking-down of equipment involved in flushing jobs. In addition, Technicians will work directly with the Project Managers to coordinate and execute project direction while demonstrating best practices to the crew. Must be in San Diego California, we are not looking to relocate candidates at this time. Responsibilities: Set Up: Pack, mobilize, and unpack Flush equipment and Support Rig boxes. Run and hang hoses and power per specifications. Assemble the flushing equipment in the ships spaces. Ability to trouble shoot equipment when problems occur. Always maintain clean and orderly work environment. Operations and Monitoring Maintain written logs during flushing activities. Continuous inspection of hoses and equipment for leaks. Assist with completion of Quality Assurance paperwork packets. Able to accurately turnover work activities during shift work. Break Down Able to disconnect flushing equipment in a controlled manner. Able to restore ships piping disconnected during flushing activities. Understands the importance of maintaining a clean work site during breaking down flushing equipment. Able to inventory equipment removed from the system. Repairs and Maintenance Maintain equipment including pumps, filters, basic plumbing, some electrical, metal fabrication and repair. Standardized maintenance practices before and after each job, including but not limited to cleaning and inspecting tools and equipment. Additional Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as requested or assigned. Participates in the service repair and maintenance program. Always use proper Personal Protective Equipment, ear plus, safety glasses. Qualifications: Team oriented Ability to learn, think critically, and solve problems Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines Attentive to detail and alert always to ensure safety Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment Previous experience preferred Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED Working Conditions and Physical Demands: Work is conducted indoors and outdoors frequently exposed to prevailing weather conditions. Work indoor or aboard vessel which may have fumes, chemicals, and heat as well as noise and dust present depending upon the location of work. Safety equipment required. The individual must be able to frequently climb inclined stairways and vertical. Work aboard the vessels can be strenuous and sometimes hazardous. Dynamic, fast-paced outdoor setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
