About Mobile Loaves & Fishes Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) is a social outreach ministry that has been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998. Founded in Austin, Texas, the organization serves its homeless neighbors through three core programs: Truck Ministry, Community First! Village, and Community Works. Often referred to as the most talked about neighborhood in Austin, Community First! Village is a 51-acre master planned development that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness. We are now embarking on a new phase of community expansion, adding more than 1400 new neighbors over the next 5-10 years. About the role The Neighbor Care Evening & Weekend Assistant is an integral part of the Neighbor Care team, assisting in a variety of operational duties that support the Neighbor Care team in creating a community culture. This position will allow the Neighbor Care team to provide more opportunities to engage with neighbors and more opportunities to volunteer for the greater community. This is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Assistant Director of Neighbor Care. Due to the nature and requirements of the position nights and weekends are required. The Neighbor Care Evening & Weekend Assistant will office at Community First! Village located at 9301 Hog Eye Road, Austin, TX 78724. Duties & Responsibilities Promote a culture of Community and provide additional volunteer opportunities Collaborate with the Neighbor Engagement Specialist and be the representative at neighbor events they coordinate after hours Steward volunteers in the evening and Saturdays in Neighbor Care activities Assist in staffing the Living Room during evening and weekends Develop activities that neighbors would like to attend to give them positive alternative opportunities in the evening hours Respond to neighbor issues or emergencies as they may arise Document and share vital information with daytime NC staff Relay information to neighbors - pass out flyers and deliver individual messages Partner with onsite partners to increase evening and weekend coverage in their programs and onsite events Attend monthly staff meetings, Neighbor Care team meetings, and other meetings as required Other Duties & Responsibilities as needed Knowledge Skills & Abilities Commitment to serving those who have experienced homelessness and personal alignment with MLF's vision, mission, core values, and goals Ability to multitask Adapts to big and small changes and quickly formulates alternative plans as needed Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, neighbors, and volunteers Highly organized and self-motivated Strong organizational skills; detail-oriented Experience dealing with people who are struggling with their physical or mental health or suffer from addiction Must demonstrate patience, compassion, and professionalism Ability to work joyfully and connect with diverse and vulnerable populations and organizations Demonstrates integrity and strives for excellence in work activity A collaborative spirit and ability to work well individually as well as part of a team Action Oriented-enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Good listening skills Common sense and judgment in day-to-day matters Must have a valid driver's license Work Environment & Physical Demands Ability to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch, reach with hands and arms, and move about the property Frequently required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds Exposed to all outside weather conditions, including wet or humid conditions, fumes, and airborne particles May be exposed to contaminants and disorderly conditions Evenings and weekends required Benefits Day one 100% Employer paid, Health, Dental, Vision, Life, & LTD Insurance Generous Paid Time Off & Holiday Pay Matching 401(k) Retirement Plan Corporate Discount Program Professional Development Opportunities Employee Assistance Program Paid Parental Leave Wellness Partnership Benefits MLF is a faith-based organization with its ideals and philosophy coming directly from the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
