System Director of Enterprise Risk Management

Job Summary : The System Director of Enterprise Risk Management acts as the key health system resource for Enterprise Risk Management activities. This individual will be responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining the enterprise risk management program for the entire health system as well as overseeing risk financing programs. Obtains, manages and utilizes information to enhance and improve individual and organizational performance in patient care, governance, management and support processes. Participates in appropriate meetings and committees. Compliant with meeting all hospital reporting deadlines . Enterprise Risk Management Develop, implement and oversee the system wide enterprise risk management program that incorporates the principles of enterprise risk management. Establish and chair an enterprise risk management committee including the individuals overseeing the following risk domains: operational, clinical, financial, strategic, human resources, technology, legal, and hazard. Work with the System Director of Quality and Patient Safety and Clinical Risk Management with respect to incorporating Clinical Risk Management into the Enterprise Risk Management program as appropriate. Serve of Health System Committees as appropriate, including the Compliance Committee. Periodically report to senior leadership and the governing boards on current risks, risk priorities, and solution identification and implementation. Insurance/Risk Financing Review current risk financing strategies and advise on alternatives. Prepare materials necessary for insurance applications, policy renewal, and surveys. Notify insurance carrier of actual and potential claims, including excess carrier as necessary. Act as liaison with the insurance carrier. Incident Reporting and Claims Management Investigate and analyze incidents and notify insurers as necessary. Assist insurer with investigation of claims. Assist legal counsel in preparing defense of claims. Attend proceedings relating to claims as necessary. Liaison with Regulatory Agencies Act as a contact person for New York State Department of Health and other regulatory agencies as necessary and appropriate. In consultation with General Counsel, Director of Compliance and others, coordinate response to regulatory agency inquiries. Education and Development Provides enterprise risk management education programs. Completes all mandatory in-service trainings. Attends at least one continuing education program annually to maintain expertise in enterprise risk management for health systems. Remains flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities commensurate with role. Qualifications : Four year degree Certificate in Healthcare Enterprise Risk Management or other related programs preferred Experience implementing and overseeing an enterprise risk management program in a health system environment preferred. Work experience in positions of increasing responsibility Strong analytical skills and desire to seek out information required Self-starter with ability to work with multiple levels of management and handle multiple tasks successfully required Proven track record of collaboration and coordination across an entire enterprise Effective communications skills (verbal and written) with all types and levels of audiences required Proficiency with relevant software applications (word processing, spreadsheet/database, presentation) required Knowledge of healthcare operational processes and products preferred Cayuga Health System Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Cayuga Health System commits to treat all people with dignity so that everyone who comes to us is safe, cared for, and respected.
