Development Director Reports to : Executive Director Position Status : Exempt Term : Regular, Full-time. Occasional evenings and weekends required. Salary : $100,000-$125,000 commensurate with skills and experience Work Location : Anaheim, CA. Staff are currently working a hybrid schedule, with three days in-person and two days remote. About the Role: The Development Director leads all revenue-generating fundraising and development activities for CAIR-LA and is accountable for achieving annual revenue goals. The Development Director cultivates and maintains positive relationships with current and potential donors and serves as a liaison with management staff throughout the organization. They are responsible for investigating and developing corporate giving opportunities, managing and increasing individual giving, overseeing foundation grants, overseeing the coordination of fundraising events, and working with individual Board members to create annual giving plans. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Board's Development Committee. Duties & Responsibilities : Develop multi-channel fundraising initiatives through annual fundraising appeals, events, and campaigns (includes digital campaigns, social media, direct mail, crowdfunding, and other channels) Collaborate closely with the Communications team to create campaign assets including fundraising and program material Recruit, train, supervise, and develop department staff and volunteers. Direct and supervise the overall work of the Development team in implementing a comprehensive donor stewardship program that involves building processes, a pipeline and stewardship practices for program fundraising Develop and implement a major gifts solicitation program Manage donor portfolio in collaboration with the Executive Director Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board, management and other staff with their solicitation efforts (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications) Develop and implement the donor recognition programs with support from the Development Coordinator Lead the implementation and coordination of all special event activities including annual banquet, fundraisers, and donor events Lead the implementation and promotion of a planned giving program Lead the grants management department and provide leadership and final sign off on grant and foundation applications Develop and maintain professional and friendly relationships with funders and update them on how their grant funds are being utilized throughout the year Manage a master calendar to reflect the communication with donors, special events, and campaigns Oversee the department in securing sponsorship and advertisements for annual banquet and special events/programs Oversee the implementation of the monthly donor program to include maintenance/engagement of existing donors and expansion of new donors with support from the Development Coordinator Other relevant tasks as assigned. Qualifications: At least five years of senior-level management and fund development/direct fundraising experience required; preferably in a nonprofit, social justice, advocacy, or public policy organization. Graduate degree in relevant field, including in Business/Marketing (preferred) Experience working with the American Muslim community and/or in a community, faith-based, social justice-oriented and/or non-profit organization (preferred).
