Maintenance Worker - Public Works

Description:
Under general supervision, perform limited semi-skilled manual labor using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment for overall municipal maintenance. Essential Functions The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Operates power mowers, weed eaters, edger's, clippers, chain saws, pole saws, demo saws and other hand tools used in municipal maintenance. Maintains municipal grounds by mowing, cleaning drainage ditches, installing fences and guard rails, cutting trees, and laying sod. Performs minor repairs incidental to building operations. Builds, pours, forms and finishes concrete; patches potholes. Maintains stock of cleaning supplies and restock as needed. Operates light trucks. Clean and restore job site to original condition. This may include placing sod, raking and other landscape type jobs. Work as a member of a repair and/or maintenance crew as directed. Operation, cleaning and general maintenance of City vehicles and equipment as directed. Performs related work as assigned Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in facility and grounds maintenance or any equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Florida driver's license is required. This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union. Successful passing of a background check and drug screening is required.
