Essential Functions & Responsibilities/Description: CAT III Linguists Must be proficient in either Arabic Yemeni/Somali, Chinese Mandarin/Chinese Cantonese, or French/Somali, or Somali, or Somali/Amharic, or Somali/Arabic, or Somali/Maay Maay, or Somali/Swahili, or Maay Maay, or Swahili. Native proficiency in the SCRL language is preferred for Category III linguist but is not required. CAT III linguists shall meet at a minimum the criteria of ILR level 3/3 in both the SCRL and English. CAT III linguists shall be able to understand the essentials of all speech in a standard dialect and have broad enough vocabulary that he/she rarely has to ask for paraphrasing or explanation. CAT III linguists shall be able to follow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers, reasonably make and answer telephone calls, understand radio broadcasts, news stories similar to wire service reports, oral reports, some oral technical reports and public addresses on nontechnical subjects. CAT III linguists shall be fluent in English. This interim access is not transferable to other Government contracts or agencies. Minimum Education/ Experience: Bachelor's degree Preferred Qualifications: CAT III linguists shall possess a TOP SECRET Security Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI), o r for US citizens who, after prescribed counterintelligence security interview, have been granted by the US Government an interim TS clearance with interim access to SCI.
