General Labor/Mechanical Assistant/Grounds Maintenance - Seasonal Must be at least 18 years old Work hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a flexible work week, up to 40 hours, including weekend hours. Pay Rate: $17.00/hour Duration: April 1, 2023 - October 1, 2023 Description Chesterfield Township is recruiting General Labor/Mechanical Assistant Seasonal w orkers. Under direct supervision, an employee in this entry-level, seasonal position will perform a variety of manual, physical tasks; follow simple routines during the construction, repair, and maintenance of Township facilities; performs related duties as assigned. Employees perform non-skilled general labor tasks in any of the following maintenance divisions of the Public Works or Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Divisions: Parks and ballfields, s treets, water, sewer, refuse, fleet maintenance. The Township is looking for efficient, safety-minded, and enthusiastic candidates that have the ability to follow directions both written and verbal. Responsibilities Good communication skills, time management, and willingness to follow direction from staff to aid in the completion of assigned tasks. Aid in the clean-up of work sites, general construction tasks, and grounds maintenance, using brooms, shovels, landscaping trimmers, small equipment, and other tools as needed. Ability to work independent or with a team, communicate status of work progress. Ability to prioritize tasks, use electronic devised to capture data, photos and time on task. Operation of Township vehicles to and from job-sites. Requirements: High School Graduate or GED equivalent. Minimum of 18 years of age with a valid Michigan Driver's License and a good driving record. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Requires good physical condition with the ability to perform physical labor. Must be available to work evenings and weekends, as necessary.
