( Video ) South Mountain Medical and Intensive Care Supervisor Position Overview Coordinates the care and treatment of animals in isolation, intensive care units, and the South Mountain Campus medical areas to ensure complete and humane care is given in a timely manner. Compile and report on all departmental activities of the overseen medical areas. Train new staff members, oversees restocking and cleanliness of work areas, create staffing schedules, approve time cards, and coach staff as required. Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure efficient flow and treatment of all patients. Evaluate, update and implement new/existing policies and procedures to keep medical areas in adherence to all board, OSHA, and AAHA requirements. Essential Functions Coordinate, evaluate and direct the activities of the South Mountain Medical Team, Bottle Baby/ Kitten ICU, Puppy Parvo ICU, and Mutternity Suites Promote safety on a continual basis for both staff members and pets under their care Regularly evaluate department staff, policies, and procedures to determine opportunities for improvement and ensure that department goals are achieved. Develop, maintain, and oversee the OSHA program for medical areas. Hold OSHA trainings and assist the appointed safety officer with any needs. Ensure documentation occurs for all training. Oversee daily treatments and medication for animals in the Bottle Baby/ Kitten ICU, Puppy Parvo ICU, Mutternity Suites, and South Mountain Campus Place weekly orders and approve time cards Inform Veterinarians regarding status of all animals in overseen areas. Continually keep treatment areas clean and organized. Perform technician duties alongside with medical teams. Interview potential candidates and coach employees on job performance. Maintain controlled substance and x-ray logs. Work closely with leadership of the Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital Champion core values of AHS of Innovation, Compassion and Excellence. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education / Certifications / Licenses: High school diploma/GED Graduation from technical school plus two years' practical experience in a veterinary clinic and at least one year supervisory experience. Experience: Must be able to fulfill all duties of a Clinic Technician II or CVT. Strong communication skills Should have good interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict. Flexible work schedule and ability to work from both Sunnyslope and South Mountain campus' Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Language - Able to speak, read and write English; Spanish language helpful. Mathematical - Basic Technical - Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Explorer; able to learn other software programs as necessary. Proficiency with or able to learn/use Chameleon software (for use with animals in a shelter environment). Other: Regular attendance, punctuality and access to reliable transportation are required. Work Environment / Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. There may be occasional wet floors, animal noises, odors, and dander. Most time will be spent in a typical air-conditioned and heated office environment.
