TITLE: Clinical Counselor REPORTS TO: Director of the CHIP Center DEPT: Student Affairs REQUIREMENTS: The successful Clinical Counselor candidate will possess a master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work from an accredited program with a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience. The Clinical Counselor must be licensed or licensed eligible within New York State at the time of hire (with the ability to secure a license within 10 months of start date). The Clinical Counselor must be skilled and experienced in conflict resolution and crisis management, multi-task, and be able to provide excellent service to students with acute and chronic conditions; responding to mental health crises per the University's protocol. A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, along with a record of serving minoritized populations is imperative. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with the college-aged population. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Clinical Counselor is responsible for providing care and treatment to enrolled students, responding to mental health crises and emergencies, and assisting the CARE Team as needed. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and verbal communications and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students. BENEFITS: This is a full-time, 10-month position. Salary is competitive and includes full University benefits and professional development opportunities. Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and include health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. In addition, we offer fully paid long term disability insurance after 3 months of employment. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8%employer match after one year of service. Excellent time off benefits for holidays, vacation and personal time is included. Tuition waiver benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide counseling services to students including individual, group, couples, crisis intervention, and other formats based on student need. Provide assessment and evaluation of students. Work collaboratively to support the Director of Counseling Services in their formulation and administration of counseling policies and procedures, including updates based on emerging legislation. Work collaboratively with the student affairs division, counseling services staff, CARE Team, and other campus offices to explore ways to best serve the needs of students. Review mental health related CARE reports and follow up accordingly. Maintains counseling records and confidentiality within the confines of best practices and the ethical obligations of the field. Work with colleagues in Student Affairs and other areas of the college on programming, compliance, and related activities. Participate in Student Development meetings, staff meetings, clinical supervision, in-services, and other activities. Assist in the planning and assessment process as dictated by the College. Develop and provide reports to support campus assessment and annual reporting needs. Engage in professional development, and maintain licensure to practice. Other duties as assigned. Terms of Employment: The position is exempt (salary) for FLSA, full time, thirty-five hours per week. Additional hours may be required for weekend events and other peak periods. Standard Background Check Required. General Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; desk job with majority of sedentary work sitting roughly 50% or greater of the workday. Working Conditions: Climate controlled office setting, but some activities/ duties can occur both inside and outside the office setting.
