We are currently seeking a full-time experienced litigation associate to join our San Diego office. SUMMARY: An employee attorney (associate) admitted to practice in the state who performs substantive legal functions in client matters. Maintains positive contact with clients and carriers and observes confidentiality in client matters. Participates in the firm's marketing efforts and is responsible for client development. May be assigned to work independently or under the direct supervision of other attorney(s) employed by the firm. What else is awesome about you? At Neil Dymott, you would achieve autonomy as an associate quickly by training with top notch trial attorneys and peers that are leaders in the industry! You are probably asking yourself, "Really? I get to run my own cases and be a real attorney?" Yes, you do! Here are some of the ways you get there: Submitting timesheets daily and billing a minimum 167 hours per month so we can all get PAID! Have the privilege and responsibility of the audit and approval of billing proformas within three {3) days of receipt of same from accounts receivable. We'll teach you how to do it! Assisting in the exciting collection of any receivable on assigned cases. Reviewing and analyzing newly assigned and existing matters in order to provide legal representation until the matter is concluded. Attending depositions, court hearings, settlement conferences, and a party here and there. Drafting all necessary documents to provide legal representation to clients and routing them through the appropriate office procedures to produce final documents. Performing the necessary legal research by using all available resources including libraries and computer data systems (we have both!). Formulating and issuing well-founded legal opinions to clients and carriers. Effectively conducting negotiations, when appropriate, to resolve matters on behalf of clients. Advising and communicating regularly with clients and carriers regarding the status of their matter. That sounds amazing, right? If you have the following qualifications and skills, we want to chat with you: Must be a member of the State Bar of California (good standing). Must maintain membership in state bar and complete all required Continuing Legal Education requirements on an annual basis. Knowledge of law and legal practice to perform substantive legal function in client matters as normally acquired through completion of a Juris Doctor degree or equivalent. Progressively more responsible work experience necessary to gain expertise needed to practice insurance defense law (but you'll love it). Follows the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the state and complies with all requirements of the firm's professional liability insurer. Strong research and writing skills with a keen eye for detail. Analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of legal matters. Excellent written and oral communication skills Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact. It's all about teamwork! Knowing how to use the phone (practically a lost art nowadays) and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact. Ability to travel to private and public buildings locally and statewide via private or public conveyance to attend to client needs on legal matters. Working more than 40 hours per week to make magic happen. I am still intrigued so what are your benefits?
