TITLE: Graduate Admissions Counselor REPORTS TO: Director of Graduate Admissions LOCATION: Amherst Campus- Daemen Daemen University is seeking a dynamic, motivated, highly organized Graduate Admissions Counselor. In this role you will be an integral part of our Graduate Admissions Team, managing prospective graduate students who are seeking to further their education with a graduate degree. The person in this role communicates regularly with students and faculty and must be a team player, willing to work with our entire enrollment management team to continue our exceptional success and enrollment growth. Formal Job Description REQUIREMENTS: The Graduate Admissions must have an earned bachelor's degree. A Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, education, or a related field, is preferred. The Graduate Counselor must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members, faculty, students, alumni, administrators, and staff. A flexible work schedule that will include days, evenings, and some weekends is required. Travel, valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required. RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admissions, the Graduate Admissions Counselor represents Daemen University to prospective students and organizations and works to increase inquiries and convert applications into enrolled students. The Graduate Admissions Counselor exhibits superior customer service skills and professionalism throughout daily interactions and communications with students including interviews, phone calls, emails and information sessions. The Graduate Admissions Counselor creates and implements recruitment strategies to reach prospective students through events, referrals, online and print communications, and outreaches to businesses and organizations. BENEFITS: This is a full-time, 12-month position. Salary is competitive and includes full University benefits and professional development opportunities. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and maintain strong relationships by counseling students beginning from the prospective stage, applied stage, and accepted stage. Communicate effectively with prospective students in a timely manner, providing superior student service. Develop and maintain a strong relationship with department chairs and additional offices on campus. Manage the application process for graduate students including the review of applications and enrollment decisions. Strategically plan and manage a graduate working territory to best reach the student population for Daemen University. Be the ambassador for the WNY Consortium; engage new stakeholders to increase recruitment. Collaborate with enrollment team and external offices for event programming and marketing. Ability to work on a registration deadline, strive towards university-wide enrollment goals and use outstanding customer service to recruit students to the university programs. Ability to work independently, and to arrange information sessions, set appointments and promote the university in a positive manner. Ability to work in a team environment with all enrollment management staff. Participate in cross training and shared responsibilities for the overall enrollment success of the university. Ability to follow the expectation of treating fellow employees, students and the institution's guests with civility, and to refrain from activities that disrupt the efficient functioning of the university. Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately as well as accept supervisory input and constructive criticism. Must be able to lift 25 lbs and stand for an extended period as part of travel and college fair recruitment. Must have a valid NYS driver's license. Perform other duties as needed BENEFITS: Benefits are available the first of the month following the full-time employee's date of hire and include health, dental, vision insurance, and fully paid life insurance. In addition, we offer fully paid long term disability insurance after 3 months of employment. Eligibility for the 403b retirement plan is available to full-time employees upon hire and an 8%employer match after one year of service. Excellent time off benefits for holidays, vacation and personal time is included. Tuition waiver benefits are also available for full-time employees and their qualified dependents General Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; desk job with majority of sedentary work sitting roughly 50% or greater of the workday. Working Conditions: Climate controlled office setting, but some activities/ duties can occur both inside and outside the office setting. Post-Hire Trainings: Various trainings assigned upon hire and annually thereafter by the Office of Employee Engagement.
