This is your opportunity to make a difference to patients in the Champaign /Urbana area with limited access to dental services! Join a team of two-four other dentists, three Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants. This position will play a key role providing quality dental care at Promise Healthcare. The prime focus will be examining, diagnosing, and developing treatment plans for infections and injuries of the teeth and mouth. The person in this position must have an interest in delivering care in a community health center and/or mobile dental program, and a passion for creating a dental home for those underserved for dental care. Clinic sites are Federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA)s and eligible for State of IL and National Health Service Corps Loan repayment. Relocation assistance provided. Provide general and comprehensive dentistry services to children and adults. Assist with the development, of clinical dental policies and procedures Diagnose and evaluate dental conditions and maintaining accurate dental records to support diagnose/evaluation Interpret x-rays and treat mouth diseases Provide restorations and other treatment as needed Perform emergency procedures on patients to reduce or eliminate pain Assess treatment options and agree on treatment plan with patients Instruct/educate patients in oral hygiene and dental care Assist with the development and implementation of Dental Quality Assurance Assist with training and evaluating assigned dental staff Educates individuals in the nature of oral health-related conditions and in the general promotion of oral health-related disease prevention. Expected to consistently work to ensure patient satisfaction and maintain positive relationships Performs other duties as assigned To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Excellent interpersonal and administrative management experience Moderate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.) Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues contagious diseases and/or other potentially hazardous materials Fine motor coordination sufficient to perform manipulative skills Ability to stand for extended periods of time, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to deliver dental services and use equipment. Work is performed in the clinic setting, either at the main location, via mobile services or at the school-based health center. Graduate from an accredited dental school Knowledge of public health principles and practices Preferred 2-4 years of experience in a community health center or with underserved populations. Current dental licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of Illinois is required. 40/week. 38 hours in direct clinical care Bilingual (Spanish) language preferred. Champaign is 2.3 hours from the Chicago O'Hare International A irport with daily train transportation. We operate out of three fixed sites in Champaign on Bloomington Road and Neil Street and a school-based health center at the Urbana High School. Oral health education services are provided at additional sites across Champaign County outside of Urbana and Champaign. At our Bloomington Road site we offer medical, dental, counseling and Psychiatry services and it is our goal that all sites offer all services in the future.
