By creating a community focused on care, we empower everyone at Clarke to do and be their best. Clarke is currently seeking to appoint two student academic advisors to its new academic advising unit. The advisors should be committed to student success and playing key roles in the University's efforts at attracting and retaining students through quality, holistic advising practices. Specifically, Clarke University's student academic advisors will: Lead efforts in providing quality, effective academic advising for first-year, transfer, and continuing Clarke University students Collaborate with the faculty and the Office of Admissions in assisting first-year and transfer students in their transition to Clarke University Collaborate with the Office of Admissions in advising students at the pre-registration stage of their matriculation to Clarke University Work with the faculty in advising students while choosing their academic programs and course of study Provide ongoing advising for students with undeclared majors and students seeking to change academic majors Offer training in student academic advising to faculty and staff members The ideal candidate will possess the following: A commitment to assisting students in their transition to higher education and to student success Experience in an educational setting in student academic advising, teaching, or a related area, such as counseling. Specific experience or training in academic advising is a plus. A graduate degree (preferred) and/or experience in higher education. Excellent verbal (written and oral) communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to develop, organize, and maintain pertinent documentation Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from different sectors of the organization, including Admissions, Enrollment Management, and the faculty. A working knowledge of best practices in student academic advising and a demonstrated willingness to maintain currency in this area. These are 12-month positions, beginning on or about May 1, 2023.
