T he Director of International Admission provides leadership and vision for organizing and directing the international admission and recruitment efforts of the university. The position is responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating undergraduate and graduate recruitment and admission activities for St. Mary's University. The Director works with a team of colleagues in enrollment management and across campus to drive successful international enrollment strategies for St. Mary's University. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Collaborates in the development and execution of the universities Strategic Enrollment Management and Strategic International Enrollment Management Plans. Assist in statistical analysis when needed to support the efforts of Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management in maintaining and establishing international prospective student markets. Manages all aspects of the international strategic enrollment plan including development of the prospect and inquiry pools, conversion, admission application review and yield. Evaluates foreign academic credentials for admission purposes utilizing university credential evaluation service platforms such as AACRAO Edge and others. Verifies credentials and recommends best practices for evaluating international student applications. Collaborates with the Office of University Communications on the development and implementation of a comprehensive international enrollment communication plan and drives discussion on appropriate strategic use of digital media strategy for international prospects. Leverages innovative solutions and technology in the development of new markets in addition to maintenance of existing market positions of the institution. Engages in strategic use of foreign recruitment agencies inclusive of training, development, and assessment of return on investment for recruiting agent agreements. Makes recommendations on the use of other strategic third-party recruitment partners for international enrollments. Maintains the international recruitment budget and collaborates with the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management on the best strategic use of financial resources in the recruitment operation. Directs the Marianist Peru Scholars Program. Serves as a collaborative partner with the Director of the Center for International Programs (CIP) for the successful progression through the enrollment funnel of undergraduate international students in addition to CIP programming inclusive of international student orientation, international education week, etc. Serves as a university Designated School Official (DSO) for issuance of I-20's for international students. Serves as a liaison to faculty and administrative offices and as a spokesperson on matters of admission and academic scholarship policies and procedures for international students. Travels internationally for St. Mary's University to key markets to maintain and develop existing pipelines, recommend strategies for development of new international markets where appropriate. Participates in receptions, orientation, graduation, and other admission and recruitment events. Participate visibly in regional, national and international professional organizations. Serves on University committees as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred. 5-7 years of progressive experience in university admission; international admission and enrollment management or similar experience required. supervisory-level experience preferred, Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance Must be able to travel internationally and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance; or have a self-reliant source of transportation to conduct business on a daily basis. Must possess a valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East without restriction; or ability to obtain one within XX days. Must be able to be affirmed as Designated School Official (DSO) and Responsible Officer (RO) by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) (must be a US citizen or permanent resident), familiar with Exchange Visitor Program regulations, Homeland Security Policies, manuals; experience with F-1 (and preferably J-1) student exchange matters; and an ability to communicate assistance to exchange students Must have the ability to demonstrate intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office and MS 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint). experience with virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom. Must have experience with admission databases or information systems; or similar experience. Technolutions, Slate CRM and Ellucian-Banner software or similar programs a plus. Proficiency in the use of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong public relations and customer service skills with an ability to implement diplomacy and discretion at all times; ability to work effectively with communities across the university. Must have a high attention to detail and be able to organize workflow, coordinate activities, balance simultaneous projects without loss of efficiency in a multi-tasked environment, and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines. Must have high ethical standards and a strong sense of confidentiality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines; thrive in a complex work environment; display solid problem solving and interpersonal skills; work well independently and as part of a team. Exhibit initiative, imagination, and organizational abilities to effectively promote and manage the development of new student and family initiatives. Understanding academic advising, financial aid and student development and knowledge of the St. Mary's culture and ability to represent and communicate the university mission to prospective students and families is preferred. Display a strong commitment to the mission of the institution and ability to articulate the value of a Marianist, Catholic education. Knowledge of principles and practices in higher and postsecondary education in relation to student transition. Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish with the ability to understand and to make one's self understood to Spanish speaking individuals) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Working conditions are in an office environment and university campus setting. Must be able to move across the university campus to conduct day to day business. Must be able to move swiftly While performing this role, the employee will be regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequently communicates with others using approved technological resources; must be able to exchange accurate information through designated systems within a timely manner. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
