PURPOSE: To ensure products are packaged, and properly stacked to the correct pallet configuration for storage and shipment. SUMMARY: Verify and/or prepare the container by sealing and labeling the boxes which are conveyed to the auto Palletizer. Ensure product is properly inspected, packaged and stacked to the customer requirements. Initial "Product Out" sheet signifying case count, case labels and pallet tickets are correct. Transfer product to storage. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices. Regular and predictable attendance is essential to this position. It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action. This is a representative sample--not to imply a complete listing of all responsibilities and tasks. Ensure pallets are stacked according to specification: Operate the equipment to its full capacity to maintain line flow Monitor process line flow to prevent line down time Follow customer specification on material usage such as type of pallet, stretch wrap, stacking patterns, pallet caps and slip sheet requirements Perform row and layer tuning adjustments Enter operating parameters and changes to pallet configurations on the appropriate Allen-Bradley Operator interface Hand palletize as required during breakdowns, etc. Verify labels according to customer specifications. Communicate Effectively: Exchange information with related Packaging Operators in Single Pass/Puff/Rescreen Receive specification information from lab sheet and Operators Receive information from Supervisor and other shift Auto Palletizer/Packaging Operators and report any malfunctions to maintenance. Operate Forklift: Complete forklift inspection at start of shift and communicate any discrepancies or need repairs to Supervisor immediately Stage correct packaging materials to meet customers specifications Transport finished product to storage area Complete and turn in daily usage report (material) Supply rework product to blend lines Transport garbage and packaging materials to appropriate area Take all garbage and trash outside Complete Paperwork and Manifesting Procedures: Place and verify tickets on pallets Create placards per specification and place on pallets. Complete variance report hourly when running Rescreen Monitor Supplies: Ensure packaging supplies are correct according to specifications supplied by Supervisor Maintain supplies to be used and inspect quality of supplies Communicate any needs to Supervisor Maximize Productivity: Report equipment problems or failures to maintenance and Supervisor Monitor infeed conveyors for smooth flow Know the flow from the fill station to the Palletizer Relieve lunches and breaks at LM Final Blend rework in as directed. May be required to train personnel as needed. Ensure Product Meets Specifications: Ensure finished pallet meets specification (label correct, no damage, accurate case count) and verify/record on "Product Out" sheet in the QA Lab Investigate foreign material for origin with Maintenance & Supervisors Monitor Machine Performance and Maintain Equipment: Know machine functions and controls Test machine and ensure it is setup correctly as review for change over Identify and communicate any problems that will cause downtime to Supervisor and maintenance Communicate with mechanics regarding defective equipment Perform adjustments to photo eyes, sensors, guides, bar code reader, rollers, etc. as needed Perform basic lubrication of chains, slides, pivot points as required Inspect, clean and maintain cleanliness of sky belts during operation Maintain a Clean/Safe Work Environment: Assure appropriate tubs are used for spillage Assist sanitation personnel for Rescreen Report ant unsafe acts and safety hazards Prevent wasteful use of chemicals and water Monitor the work area and keep it clean and organized at all times Use proper handling procedures when working with chemicals Clean the Palletizer -hand wipe and air blow Remove recyclables to compactor area as required. Operate Rescreen Process Assemble Guards, Covers, Sweco screens, and screen cleaning rings Ensure feed stock is staged and meets sulfur and moisture specifications Adjust star valve and stearate application & Crackulizer Monitor machinery/equipment for smooth operation Set up labels stearate, pallets and other supplies per product specification Interprets sieve analysis of finished product and granulation splits when required to identify adjustment needs Assist mechanic to change Sweco screens if time allows Monitor flow of product to meet process needs, and monitor stearate applicator Ensure feed stock and supplies are adequate Adjust speed on star valve to Fitzmill Monitor machinery/equipment for smooth operation Check and adjust sealers and scales as required Monitor stearate machine for proper application of stearate Contribute to Team Effort: Assist co-workers when possible Demonstrate teamwork Industrial and Food Safety Follow proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures/standards. Follow all Haz-Com and Chemical Safety procedures/standards. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice procedures and standards. Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedure/standards. Wear required and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times. Identify and address all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts - Report to Supervisor on shift Follow all other applicable safety rules and regulations. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year position-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write, and speak and understand in English, in order to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and supervisors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in proximity to moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in outside extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, etc.) The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration, toxic or caustic chemicals, and fumes or airborne particles.
