Linfield University is seeking an experienced individual to join Student Affairs as the Director of Student Activities . The Director of Student Activities p rovides supervision, guidance, and leadership training to the student government and other student organizations in planning and implementing educational and social programs and special events. This position plans programs and collaborates with other departments to enhance student engagement mission, c oordinates the University Outdoor Program including the outdoor gear rental shop, oversees and enforces the University's policy on student group vehicle usage, sales and solicitations on campus, fundraising, publicity, and events and programming, coordinates the student activities events calendar, provides advice, training, leadership development, and policy enforcement to the fraternity and sorority life community, and supervises the Program Coordinator of Student Activities position. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Advise and monitor the Associated Students of Linfield University (ASLU) cabinet, senate, and programming board Supervise the Program Coordinator of Student Activities Provide oversight, training, leadership development, and policy enforcement to the fraternity and sorority life community Coordinate fall and spring new student Orientation Supervise the Outdoor Program, including training of student leaders and oversight of the outdoor gear rental program Coordinate the University Recognition Convocation Plans and coordinates student programs that enhance the mission of the University in collaboration with other departments Oversee and monitor the budgets, missions, and goals for: Students Activities, Fraternity & Sorority, ASLU, and Orientation Provide regular opportunities for leadership development to student leaders, specifically in the areas of student government, fraternity and sorority life, students clubs/organizations, and Orientation leaders Support annual University events, such as Commencement Coordinate the student activities events calendar Enforce University policy in the following areas: student organizations vehicle requests, sales and solicitation on campus, student organizations fundraising events, campus publicity guidelines, and events and programming Formulates policies (with supervisor's approval) as they relate to student government and other student organizations, fraternity and sorority life, and new student Orientation Hire, train, and supervise work study student employees Coordinates the University airport and train shuttle program Other duties as assigned Qualifications Master's degree or 3 years of student programming experience post baccalaureate degree. Three to five years of experience in higher education preferably in student activities or related area. Must possess valid driver's license, a good driving record, and the ability to become/remain certified to drive Linfield University Vehicles. Experience advising students and student organizations Proven leadership skills, ability to work in a team environment Knowledge of student activities and student development philosophy Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Constant sitting, hearing, seeing, talking and repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and fingers. Frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs. Occasional exposure to weather elements when walking from building to building on campus. Occasional pushing, pulling, carrying, or lifting up to 40 pounds. Occasional operation of motor vehicle.
