VDI, located in Louisville, KY, is an affiliated company of Madico, Inc. Job Summary: Responsible for the operation of vapor coating machinery for the production of product conforming to defined quality standards. Assists and trains Operator/Inspectors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Setup and operate vapor coating machinery Perform start of shift safety and environment checklist, shift product and machine checklist Load material onto machinery Basic troubleshooting to eliminate defects and machine problems Inspect materials and product Perform work in a safe fashion and adhere to all safety policies and practices Defect identification, flagging, recording and communicating Set up and operation of the pumping system Perform and record the results of all required quality and product testing Document machine conditions, product roll quality, and productivity Other work as assigned by supervision Desired Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED 1+ years related experience as machine operator or assistant machine operator Some computer operation skills Basic Math skills Basic skills reading measuring devices (tape measure) and test equipment Special Requirements: Ability to work 12 hour shifts (days or nights). Ability to work every other weekend. Must be able to qualify to wear a cartridge respirator. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Work Environment: Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is the work environment it can be loud.
