Based in Birmingham, Alabama, KHA leads organizational development, project management, and research and evaluation projects for publicly and privately funded efforts across a broad range of topics. The Opportunity Under the leadership of the Director of Programs, the Project Manager works as a part of a cross-functioning team and leads the management and successful execution of 3-5 assigned projects. The Project Manager will establish project goals, develop plans, budgets, metrics and schedules with input from clients and KHA leadership. Throughout a project lifecycle, the Project Manager will monitor progress, make decisions, perform corrective action, communicate project status, and evaluate projects for improvements and efficiencies. The Project Manager must be organized, detail-oriented, and excel in client-facing work. They must have experience setting, managing, and adjusting project schedules and associated resources to meet client deadlines. Ideal candidates should be proactive, detail-oriented, able to work both within teams and independently, able to communicate effectively with clients, partners, and other interested parties. They must be adaptable and able to thrive in an innovative and dynamic environment The Project Manager is responsible for the following: Project Management Manage all aspects of assigned projects, work with clients to develop needs assessment, scope design and development, production/deliverables, goals development; oversee, track progress, and monitor performance of cross-functional project teams until project completion Drive project workflow by managing complex scheduling/planning of projects, lead project conversations and negotiations with clients to ensure project effectiveness Use Asana project management tool to track/monitor progress, milestones, and deliverables of projects; also manage Google Drive/ repository for project documentation and archives Draft and manage project materials such as agendas, slides, and runs; assist with preparation and development of proposals and other client deliverables, such as presentations, reports, and other correspondence Responsible for documentation & reporting; strategizing process improvements and planning for mitigating risks and project issues Work with KHA project associates to schedule/coordinate interviews, meetings, focus groups, presentations (in-person or virtual/remote), onsite visits, and other project-related activities As needed, manage planning and negotiating of subcontractor contracts, ensuring contract terms align with project expectations Directly or indirectly supervise other KHA staff members and develop/maintain working relationships with key client partners, vendors, external/internal staff, and the KHA operations team Perform other duties as assigned Client Relations Represent KHA as a project leader and team player communicating with clients, partners, and subcontractors/vendors Manage customer service and engage clients in relationship management to ensure positive business outcomes and alignment with their goals Business Development In collaboration with the Director of Strategy, participate in overall KHA development activities and represent KHA in initial meetings with potential new clients and development opportunities Represent KHA with high-level strategic partners, including external stakeholders and clients. Manage relationships to leverage funding from philanthropic organizations, businesses, governmental agencies, and other key stakeholders in alignment with KHA core values and program interests. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of professional experience in consulting and project management Have a demonstrated commitment to racial equity and social justice Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large-scale projects and to coach/mentor project teams in developing and deploying change efforts Experience engaging clients and building strong relationships with C-levels, executives/management, internal/external teams, and vendors to execute transformation planning and implement impactful solutions to build capacity and social awareness Well-developed organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to balance multiple tasks Strong creative, analytical, and interpersonal skills Self-directed, organized, detail and deadline oriented, and able to prioritize multiple, competing, and complex tasks Strong communications skills, able to give and receive feedback Demonstrated ability for careful discernment and decision-making, can maintain discretion and uphold confidentiality Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills Adept at navigating complex and nuanced relational and interpersonal dynamics Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google, and project management systems (ex. Asana) Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with a team toward a common goal Flexibility and comfortable with ambiguity; Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, able to adapt and pivot in real-time based on project needs and emergent circumstances. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of professional experience in consulting and project management Formal project management training and certification Can negotiate, resolve conflicts and manage team and client dynamics Strong ability to delegate and drive results through others Demonstrated success with supporting business development activities and engagement with high-level strategic partners.
