The Accounting Department is recruiting for an experienced professional to join the team as a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for general ledger accounting, including journalizing, account reconciliation, analysis of accounts, financial reporting, technology integration, and other duties as assigned. The Senior Accountant provides support and knowledge for all administrative and academic departments throughout the University. Must have strong knowledge in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. A review of applications will begin immediately, and will be accepted until filled. Primary Duties and Responsibilities : Management and development of technology solutions with respect to utilizing existing ERP software and tools. Innovating to utilize cost efficient SAAS and other tools to develop efficiencies and support data driven decision making. Provide support for the following: Assistant Controller's procedures and processes related to the day-to-day accounting for the University. Collection and distribution of information required by the University's third party independent accounting firm in the performance of the annual financial statement audit. Collection and distribution of information for the preparation of the IRS Form 990 for the University. Collection and distribution of information for the preparation of the University's retirement plan annual audit and preparation of the IRS Forms 990 and 5500 by independent auditors. Assistant Controller's delegation of tasks and training for the Accounting Department's student employees. Preparation of grant reporting and funding requests, in collaboration with the Director of Grants and Sponsored Research. Accounting for Endowments and reconciliation between the general ledger and third party systems and reporting. Accounting for Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT) and Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust (CRAT), and reconciliation between the general ledger and third- party systems and reporting. Preparation of reports for Board of Trustee Committee meetings. Accounting for Fixed Assets; additions, retirements, depreciation, and other activity associated with the University's Fixed Assets. General Ledger maintenance using Linfield's ERM, Ellucian Colleague: Assign and maintain user security profiles Create new accounting strings (fund / source / department / object code) aligned with University accounting current and future chart of accounts structures. Review A/P vouchers scheduled to be paid for compliance with University policies and procedures. Assist in the process and procedures for recording activity in the general ledger. Participate in accounting special projects as assigned by the controller or assistant controller. Minimum Qualifications: Education Bachelors degree in accounting; or equivalent combination of education and work experience in accounting. Experience Five years of accounting experience. Thorough understanding of principles of accounting and general ledger accounting. Proficient computer skills with spreadsheet and word processing using Microsoft Office. Working knowledge and experience with business analysis software tools to bring efficiencies to accounting operations and reporting outputs. Extensive knowledge and understanding of electronic data management tools and reporting. Excellent math aptitude and attention to detail skills. Proficient 10-key and typing skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of staff, faculty, students, and outside stakeholders. Ability to support a diverse work environment. Professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Preferred Qualifications: Education / Licensure Masters Degree in Accounting . Certified Management Accountant, Certified Public Accountant, or Certified Global Management Accountant. Experience Higher education experience, tax exempt organization, and fund accounting experience.
