What will I be doing? Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. Pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment. Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist. Monitor food quality while preparing food. Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish to be served. Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacle. Use kitchen tools safely and appropriately. Wash and disinfect kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food. Notify manager if a product does not meet specifications. Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods. Responsibilities will include the following tasks performed to the highest standards: Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods to the Chef to ensure optimum service to guests. Address guests' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner. Speak to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language. Assist other employees to ensure proper coverage and prompt guest service. Ensure the quality of the food items and notify manager if a product does not meet specifications. Prepare all potentially hazardous foods at the correct temperature according to the HACCP guidelines. Follow appropriate personal hygiene procedures to ensure food served to guests is safe for consumption, including disinfecting hands prior to handling food and wearing a hat/hairnet and proper footwear. Follow and ensure compliance with food safety and handling policies and procedures, such as product rotation, First In-First Out (FIFO); dating, labeling, cleaning, and organizing coolers/freezers/storage areas; and Cold Chain compliance, across all food-related departments and areas. Monitor the quantity of food that is prepared and the portions that are served in order to control food waste and ensure that good food is not thrown away. Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food using thermostats and thermometers, including monitoring freezer systems, such as fans, drains, and doors, for proper operation, and report issues or problems to facility management. Talk with and listen to other employees to effectively exchange information. What skills are we looking for? A passion for hospitality. Ability to consistently maintain a clean and professional appearance in proper uniform. Punctuality and ability to attend scheduled shifts. Strong relationship and collaboration skills to effectively partner with co-workers and broader team. Organizational skills to manage and prioritize tasks Required Experience? Two (2) years of related experience required. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing personal services. This includes meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of member satisfaction. Required Education? High school graduate or GED equivalent required; vocational school preferred. Working Conditions Must be able to work in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled work area. Must be able to see and work with members and work in an open area with other employees. The employee will come in contact with chemicals and cleaning solvents as necessary. Will be exposed to cold temps (freezers), heat from stoves/ovens, use of sharp kitchen tools. Physical Requirements The ability to communicate in both written and spoken English so that others will understand. Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and stamina necessary. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
