(Fabrication) General Labor/Fab-Tech 2nd Shift (2:30 p.m. - 11 p.m.) $16/hour - Paid Holidays - Paid Time Off - Insurance - 401k - Background Friendly Saylite , a manufacturer of commercial and industrial light fixtures, is expanding our Sheet metal Fabrication Department. We are currently seeking several General Labor/Fab Techs to assist with our growing business. Quick Summary: The General Labor/Fab-Tech is responsible for assisting with the fabrication of components and parts, by feeding sheet metal into the machine to punch, bend, etc., performing some spot welding, and generally assisting wherever needed. General Overview & Reporting: The Gen'l Labor/Fab-Tech is responsible for providing assistance and support in the fabrication area, as assigned, with making components to exact specifications, per plan and customer requirements. Section II. Duties & Areas of Responsibility: The primary duties of the Gen'l Labor/Fab-Tech consist of, but are not limited to, the following: Health & Safety Consistently adhere to all health & safety policies and practices, including wearing proper PPE at all times Follow all machine & equipment safety protocols, ensuring factory standard safety mechanisms are in place & being utilized Operators following safe practices (correct speed, utilization, seatbelts, protocols, etc.) Forklifts being driven safely per guidelines, and being maintained and inspected Maintain tidy, clutter-free, and obstacle-free work zones Proactively identify safety risks in the work area, and advise management Recommend resolutions to safety concerns & participate in the implementation Follow a "safety first" culture with a "zero accidents" goal Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures when maintaining machines Immediately notify management or HR of any safety incidences (accidents, or near misses) Pandemic or other health concerns protocol, when applicable: If exhibiting any pandemic-related symptoms, stay home, advise the supervisor, get tested, and follow any other recommended protocols Pre-shift temperature taking - comply with the temperature-taking protocol before going to the assigned work area; if the temp is over the defined maximum, immediately advise the supervisor and follow all protocols Wear masks or other prescribed PPE Maintain social distancing (work, break, common areas, etc.) Thoroughly complete all shift end cleaning (work areas cleaned and sanitized) before leaving the work area General Labor duties Carefully follow instructions for operating machinery in the creation of parts & components (feeding sheet metal into machine and punching, bending, etc. per directions) Ensure the machine is operating correctly Advise maintenance and management of any machine operations concerns Ensure quality and production standards are safely maintained Perform spot welding as required, ensuring specifications are met May be trained in setup, proper tooling per blueprint specs, and advanced operation of CNC press brake equipment (Amada, Accupress & Safan) Assist in powder coating area, hanging & wiping down parts, etc., using calipers to check work within +/-.005. Meet or exceed production efficiency standards (on time and accurate) Advise team leadership or management of any delays or concerns regarding quality and timeliness Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness in the department Communicate daily with department lead/supervisor and other shifts regarding safety issues and production status Input data into the system to document job performance versus job travelers (work order) with required production data Section III: Necessary Skills and Attributes: Prior experience in a sheet metal fabrication shop, is a plus (preferably with CNC Amada, Accupress & Safan equipment) Experience with spot welding, a plus Ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment Quality focused High School diploma/GED Ability to read and understand blueprints preferred Strong attention to detail Reliability and dependability Ability to work overtime and weekends Excellent problem resolution abilities Solid communication abilities Good interpersonal, and collaborative skills Ability to work well individually and in a team setting Strong planning and organizational skills Willingness to assist wherever needed Section IV: Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a factory, non-climate controlled, warehouse environment (heat, cold, dust, etc.) Must be able to work standing for prolonged periods, stooping, bending, and in a squatting position Visual acuity is required to operate equipment and read plans, orders, blueprints, machine setup & operation, written documents, etc. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds Manual dexterity is required for handling materials, setting up equipment, etc. Job Posted by ApplicantPro
