Golf Course -Irrigation Technician

Description:
Responsible for the operation, programming and maintenance of the golf course irrigation system. Responsible for operating irrigation heads in dry areas needing additional water. Maintain and repair the irrigation system, which includes the distribution lines, valve, heads, controllers, hydraulic control system, fertigation system, all pump stations; raise heads and trim around them as needed. Inspect the various components of the irrigation system daily to insure that they are operating properly; drag dew as needed. Responsible for drainage projects and other related work as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendents. Report any irregularities in course turf quality to the superintendent or assistant superintendent. Executes the irrigation program as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent/Director. Waters greens, tees and fairways. Repairs the irrigation system, pipes and irrigation heads as needed. Completes requests for irrigation and course parts and supplies. Maintains equipment and in compliance with county, state and federal regulations. Perform safe mechanical operation and calibration of equipment. Must be able to safely operate a golf cart. Inspect all areas of property to determine irrigation needs. Follow policies/procedures. Perform other duties and/or tasks as directed by Management . Education and experience High school diploma and/or equivalent preferred. Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and of various types of pumps and pumping systems required. Must be able to handle and use manual tools such as weedeaters, flymos, rakes, shovels, spreaders and similar tools. Must be able to walk extensively, as well as, sit or stand for extended periods of time while performing job functions. Must be able to stoop at the knees, bend at the waist, and have a complete dexterity of arms and legs to perform tasks in cramped or awkward positions. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. Must be able and willing to take directions. Must possess excellent organizational skills and coordinate and complete tasks with limited supervision. Must be a self-starter and eager to learn. Must be able to recognize and solve problems. Must possess time management skills. Must maintain high performance standards. Knowledge of irrigation components, processes, and equipment. Ability to deal effectively and cooperatively with employees, management and members. Must be a detail-oriented individual and possess time management skills. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
