Salary: $120,675 - $147,650 Grade: 31 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking one (1) qualified candidate to fill the full-time position of Research Education Director for the HRPP of the NYS Office of Mental Health. This position will directly support the Director of the HRPP. The Research Education Director will oversee research education for OMH. The candidate must be a dependable, highly motivated, proactive individual who can work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines. The candidate must be a self-starter and work independently, able to think broadly and multitask. The candidate must be professional and always maintain the highest level of confidentiality, exceptional judgment, and diplomacy. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision. The candidate should have a strong, service-minded work ethic. The candidate must be detail-oriented, able to easily set priorities and manage various projects and a large volume of detailed work simultaneously. The candidate must possess advanced knowledge of research regulations, guidance, and best practice standards, as well as the ability to apply this knowledge across a diverse research portfolio. The HRPP: The mission of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) is to promote the welfare and rights of human research participants, to facilitate excellence in the conduct of all human research activities regardless of regulatory risk, and to provide timely and high-quality IRB review, monitoring of ongoing human studies, and ongoing education and training of investigators and HRPP staff. The HRPP assists the New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI), the Nathan Kline Institute (NKI), the Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene (RFMH), and the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) in meeting their regulatory and ethical obligations pertaining to human research participants, and routinely collaborates with other institutional offices. Duties and Responsibilities: The Research Education Director's duties may include but are not limited to the following: Serving as a subject matter expert in Humans Subjects Research Protections Identifying and bringing expert trainers to researchers working within the Office for Mental Health (OMH) for regularly scheduled and ad hoc research staff training. Coordinating research training, including scheduling courses. Providing regular updates on training and education activities for various reporting efforts across the institution. Corresponding with investigators, research staff, and other employees of OMH about required and other available training. Maintaining online training resources. Liaising with senior and administrative staff members and a wide variety of institutional officials, faculty members, and external contacts about researcher training and education. Attending Institutional Review Board (IRB) meetings to provide training as needed for IRB members. Translating trends in non-compliance to education for researchers. Maintaining courses that enable researchers associated with OMH to obtain Continuing Medical Education (CME) and other such credits to complete educational requirements. Assisting with AAHRPP Accreditation preparations. Telecommuting is currently allowed at 50% at the discretion of the supervisor but is subject to change by the Governor's Office and the NYS Office of Mental Health. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience in clinical research, IRB, or related settings, OR Bachelor's Degree with 5+ years of above relevant experience. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be acceptable. At least one year of experience using (as a participant and host) virtual platforms (i.e., WebEx, Zoom). At least one year of experience using (as a participant and host) virtual platforms (i.e., WebEx, Zoom). Preferred Qualifications: CIP, SOCRA, CCRP, or related training. RFMH employees may be required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 depending on work location and must provide proof of vaccination. Individuals that are not vaccinated for COVID-19 are ineligible for appointment to positions that require vaccination. Fully vaccinated is defined as two (2) or more weeks since receiving either the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination series (e.g., Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or the first and only dose of a single-dose vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).
