RQ Construction is a growing commercial Design-Build company, whose primary customer is the Department of Defense. Since 1996, RQC, LLC. has been a leading player in Southern California's robust commercial and governmental Design-Build economy. We now have a national presence with current projects spanning coast to coast, including U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. This position has the legal responsibility and accountability for safe operation of RQ's company-owned tugboat, and will direct the day-to-day operations as well as coordinate the onboard activities of the boat crew such as operating engines, steering and maintaining and repairing the ship's equipment. We are seeking a qualified Tug Master candidate to join our team in the Southeast/Caribbean Region. The tugboat will tow the company-owned barge carrying materials into U.S. Naval Base Guantanamo Bay ("GTMO"), Cuba, and between various ports in the Caribbean. The crew will make regular voyages to Jamaica, Florida and the Bahamas. This position may also assist with vessel operations and may be asked to do additional tasks as necessary. *Priority will be given to those applicants in the Jacksonville, Florida area, paid travel from home base to Jacksonville* Experience and Education Requirements Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. 10+ years total experience with at least 5 years of experience in a Captain role. High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Ability to work rotational 12 hour watch. Ability to work 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off, revised as necessary. Required Licenses and Certifications Merchant Mariners Credentials (MMC) Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Master of Towing Vessels upon Oceans 200 GRT required. Vessel Security Officer (VSO) CPR/AED First Aid Certification required. Training can be provided. Driver's license Physical Requirements Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels. Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders that have capacity limits of 300 lbs. Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
