Head Strength and Conditioning Coach - Immediate Opening

The Hun School of Princeton has an immediate opening for a dynamic and creative head strength and conditioning coach. The general responsibilities include, but are not limited to developing, implementing and providing coaching and programming that includes education, training, guidance, motivation, conditioning, rest and recovery programs that helps all students, athletic teams, and coaches develop to the best of their ability. The head strength and conditioning coach reports to the co-directors of athletics. This is a full-time, twelve month position. Responsibilities: Design, implement and monitor strength and conditioning athletic team programs for pre-season, in-season, and off-season in conjunction with other strength and conditioning staff as needed; Administer fitness testing, computation of results, and evaluation of individual athletes; Manage, coach, and develop the assistant strength and conditioning coach; Teach proper lifting technique and assist in spotting when necessary; Education and enforcement of weight room rules; Effectively and properly motivate athletes to achieve maximum potential in all areas of performance; Work collaboratively and maintain a positive and effective level of communication with the strength and conditioning staff, coaches, colleagues and School community members; Assist in the general maintenance and cleaning of the facility and its equipment; Collaborate with the co-director to assist with all tasks for which he or she is responsible, and manage general operation of the facility in the co-director's absence in partnership with strength and conditioning staff; Serve as the point of contact for co-directors for strength and conditioning staff; Perform the duties of the facility supervisor as needed; Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or redesigned as necessary. A successful candidate will present the following qualities and experiences: Previous experience in strength and conditioning, physical education, health and exercise science or a related field; Adequate knowledge of athletics and athletic terminology; Display the highest ethical and professional behavior; Strong positive motivational abilities; Interpersonal relationship skills and abilities to manage courteously and efficiently a diverse group of constituents; Understanding and ability to work with middle and high school age children; Ability to understand and deal effectively with students, faculty, parents and staff; Excellent and timely communication skills; Ability to work both independently and collaboratively based on the task; Personal qualities including resilience, approachability, and kindness; Ability to maintain a high level of privacy when working with confidential student information; Keen problem solving and decision-making abilities; Must pass State of New Jersey Criminal Background check and be fingerprinted. Preferred Qualifications: Education in the fields of Kinesiology, Biology, and/or Sports medicine; CSCS Certification or equivalent.
