A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN IRRIGATION CREW LEADER As a lead irrigation technician, you ensure both commercial property and homeowner's association (HOA) irrigation systems are operating at peak efficiency. To do this, you safely excavate necessary holes to troubleshoot and repair pipes, fittings, sprinkler heads, electrical components, and central control computers. You also install timers, piping, and valves as well as perform general system maintenance and correct over or underwatering. As needed, you locate, excavate, repair, and replace damaged or malfunctioning equipment. To guarantee a properly functioning system, you perform backflow tests, system start-ups, and part evaluations. With each job, you test irrigation systems to make sure they are properly functioning, record detailed inspections, and complete necessary paperwork. Additionally, you take responsibility for maintaining inventory including the purchasing of repair parts. To stay organized, you keep your work vehicle and equipment clean. You are proactive in diagnosing and repairing any issues, thinking critically to solve problems, and completing repairs with minimal impact on landscapes. QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN IRRIGATION CREW LEADER 3+ years of professional experience working with irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair Ability to read diagrams and blueprints to layout and locate valves, timers, and wiring Reliable transportation to and from work Ability to legally be employed in Michigan Ability to maintain a valid US driver's license Ability to perform all required functions of this position including lifting 50 lbs. or more Can you interact professionally with customers, employees, and those from external organizations? Do you work sufficiently on your own as well as part of a team? Can you represent our company well and conduct yourself in a professional manner? Do you enjoy working outside? WORK SCHEDULE FOR AN IRRIGATION CREW LEADER This lawn care position typically works Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5:30 pm with occasional weekend work, holidays, and on-call emergencies.
