JOB TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist DEPARTMENT: Therapy Services STATUS: Exempt Full Time ( CFY applicant(s) will be considered) REPORTS TO: Director of Therapy Services JOB SUMMARY: The primary role of the Speech Therapist is to provide services to clients in the Pediatric and Adult program. This role will be responsible for the evaluation of the client and the implementation of the treatment plan. The Speech Therapist will also be responsible for appropriate communication (verbal & written) with service coordinators, intake/billing specialists, family members, insurance companies, physicians and Medicaid. Seeking Speech Therapist with pediatric dysphagia experience. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Complete a thorough evaluation and identify needs in the areas of pre-speech, cognition, feeding and speech and language development, and augmentative communication/assistive technology as appropriate. Educate and demonstrate (verbally or written) therapy techniques to clients that can be incorporated into a home program; assist families in home program facilitation. With client input, develop individualized goals for each patient, incorporating functional abilities with the objective to increase daily living skills. Develop and implement treatment program to meet the individual needs of the client. Treatment is provided is center-based for clients. Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and continuing education courses as appropriate or required. Maintain communication with client's primary physician through progress reports or other communication measures. May participate in public speaking or community education programs that focus on issues relating to speech therapy services. Provide intervention to develop language and communication skills (individual, team, or group therapy sessions). Identify the need for a client to develop other communication modes and make recommendations and suggestions for adaptive equipment as needed. Participate in evaluation staffings and IFSP staffings for pediatric clients. May also be required to participate in case reviews, exit staffings, medical consultation staffings and school district multidisciplinary team staffings. Responsible for timely documentation of evaluation results, progress reports, discharge reports, daily notes, attendance reports, Medicaid prior authorizations and insurance justifications as required. Maintain professional clinical competency by attending certified CEU in-service or workshops in the area of pediatrics or adults. Collaboratively incorporate best practices and demonstrate a willingness to question established practices. Assist in developing strategic and long-range plan for the program. Perform any other duties that are from time to time deemed necessary by the Director of Therapy Services. Adhere to the agency safety policies and procedures. EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in speech and language pathology or communication disorders. Currently registered and licensed by the State of Wisconsin or eligible for licensure. ASHA certification of clinical competency or pursuing certification. Have current CPR certification or be able to obtain within 3 months. Completion of a pediatric clinical affiliation or pediatric exercise preferred, but not required. Pediatric dysphagia experience. Physical ability to lift and transfer children (minimum of 25 lbs.) Ability to participate in handling and floor activities with children. Working knowledge and use of assessment tools used in the evaluation of infants and children. Basic computer experience (Microsoft Office, Excel, Internet).
