Description Summary: Will be responsible for the drafting, designing, and detailing of various projects, coordinating with the project manager, detail fabrications, steel erector, miscellaneous and ornamental metals, and occasionally travel to construction site to assist project managers with design specifications. Generate shop bill of material and prepare shop job package Prepare a list of materials to be purchased for the project and enter information into data system. Perform assigned job tasks within the established schedule. Responsible for the generation and tracking of RFI's, issuing drawings for approval and fabrication as well as answering customer questions on assigned projects. Responsibilities include standard detailing and fabrication practices as well as reading and understanding design documents / drawings. Detail a complete job with shop detail drawings Interprets architectural and structural drawings and specifications and the relationship to other building trades Makes final sketch of proposed drawings, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used for procurement, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project Makes any changes necessary to drawings due to bulletins and alternates from the architects or engineers and is complete with change to all affected material-pieces; Inks in lines and letters on pencil drawings as required Draws finished designs from sketches Uses AUTOCAD, Tekla, and Solidworks software Details and checks simple steel structures with minimum oversight Understands engineering of simple connection design and Produces clear, concise and complete drawings and bill of material for shop fabrication with all information needed for the checker, fabricator and erector. Process Control: Through established processes and procedures assure that company standards are maintained. Identify potential process improvements and make suggestions to management. Quality: Responsible for the quality and accuracy of the work performed. Safety: Contribute to the safe working environment and adherence to all company safety practices. Periodic participation in safety committee representing the department. Housekeeping: Responsible for general cleaning of personal work area. Asset Control: Proper use and care of company owned equipment. Departmental Reporting: Provide department reporting to other necessary departments to assure general business operation. Develop and maintain all documentation as required by the quality management system. Skills Required: Must have experience with the drafting and /or design of structural steel erection, fabrication, and/or miscellaneous metals. Must be able to interpret architectural drawings, structural drawings and specifications giving consideration to the relationship of other building trades. Must be technically sound in steel fabrication for multiple processes including structural steel fitting and welding, Cutting; (Saw, Plasma, Laser, and Shear), Rolling, Forming, Drill, Punch, Milling, and Lathe. Strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude. Strong problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to deliver results, Strong problem solving, verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, effective team building skills, proven ability to deliver results, strong ability to multi-task and prioritize. Effective PC skills require (Microsoft Office), extensive knowledge of AutoCAD software and/or similar design software. Knowledgeable of internet file transfer and file conversion techniques. Must be highly motivated self-starter and able to work independently with minimum guidance.
