Reports to: Sous Chef Department: Kitchen Table FLSA: Full Time Non-Exempt Position Summary Reporting to the Pastry Chef, the Pastry Assistant, assists in creating a delightful dining experience and food that is fresh, vibrant and nutritious. The Baker prepares excellent quality food items in line with the Cuisine Profile. Pastry Assistant is responsible for ensuring all baking and pastry items are produced in the high standards set by the Executive Chef while following safety and sanitation procedures. The Pastry Assistant works closely with the Pastry Chef and other food service managers to ensure efficient operations of the pastry department in line with 1440's Cuisine Profile and mission, vision, values. The Pastry Assistant will have complete knowledge of all essential professional baking requirements including experience in gluten free, dairy free and vegan baking. The Baker models a passion for 1440's food services vision. Accountabilities Accountable for following all recipes approved by Executive Chef Accountable for following and enforcing all SOP's Able to give and receive professional feedback Communicate needs for present and future meals in a timely fashion Manage menu changes daily, and learn current and future menus Essential Skills and Experience Demonstrate high-level of knowledge in farm-to-table, natural foods and remaining current regarding food service and cuisine trends Experience as a baker dedicated to gluten free, dairy free, vegan cuisine and experience as baker in a larger scale kitchen environment. Proven track record of success creating a kitchen culture that is professional, respectful and compassionate Proven track record of successful relationships with both management team and direct reports Ability to foster strong relationships with Co workers Affinity with 1440 Multiversity's mission and core values. Enthusiastic about process improvement. Highly collaborative, flexible team player, keen to engage in positive, supportive, professional relationships.
