Sheakley is currently seeking a Safety Specialist for our client in Irving, TX. Our client is one of the nation's leading youth care programs. Compensation Package: $70-90K Staffing Type: Full-Time Direct Hire Scope of Work: General safety oversite for our clients camp Position Location: Cimarron, New Mexico; alternatively, may be based in either Irving, TX (onsite at HQ) or within 300 miles of Cimarron, with the expectation of 50% travel. All travel will be paid for while on the job. No company car. They are open to relocation cost Certification Requirements: A deep understanding of OSHA guidelines and the practical application thereof. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. 5 + years of work experience reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing work environments, designing programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury may be substituted for the required bachelor's degree. Principal Duties & Responsibilities : • Lead environmental and safety-related initiatives. Coach managers on prevention measures. • Identify and evaluate occupational hazards associated with BSA activities and programs.• Lead audits to ensure environmental and safety related standards are in place and met. • Monitor and audit risk mitigation plans and implemented controls to ensure effectiveness and compliance and report on results. • Recommend changes and improvements as appropriate and required.• Develop and implement controls/risk mitigation strategies into programs, processes, and operations.• Prepare and roll out safety initiatives, educational and training programs, materials and information under the direction of department leadership.• Aggressively review and lead the analysis of injuries, illnesses, accidents, and near misses establishing root causes, serving as the lead analyst for reported incidents. • Identify trends and update program-specific prevention strategies. • Maintain confidential records, records of hazard and risk assessments, audits, and near-miss reports and information following policies, procedures, and regulations. • Participate as a member of cross-functional teams and provide information on health and occupational-related issues.• Perform hazard identification and monitoring.• Develop and maintain safety and health policies, procedures, and manuals. Qualifications/Education/ Experience: 5 + years of work experience reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing work environments, designing programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury may be substituted for the required bachelor's degree. Requirements BCSP Certification (ASP, CSP, GSP) OSHA 10 Solid knowledge of EHS standards, and industry regulatory standards in construction, with the ability to communicate such standards to others. 3 - 5 years of experience serving as a Safety specialist. Excellent public speaking abilities. Energetic, ambitious, assertive, and an excellent communicator. OSHA outreach training experience preferred. Able to meet deadlines, and work independently without direct supervision, as well as in a team environment. OSHA and regulatory safety training experience. Skills, Specialized Knowledge, and Abilities Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality Outgoing personality, self-motivated Excellent customer service, telephone, electronic, and written communication skills. Analyze and recommend improvements for safe work practices, policies, and training programs. Technical experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. Use of standard office equipment. Organization, attention to detail, flexibility, and strong ability to multi-task interfacing with multiple client situations on any given workday. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision. Must embrace a team-based, initiative-driven environment. Effectively work with others to build consensus and rapport Work conditions are typically warehouse, clinical, manufacturing facilities, construction projects, and field conditions.
