Job Summary Facility and Equipment Engineer manages and performs the equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs for the manufacturing and packaging of finished goods products, and cannabinoid ingredients in a cGMP and OSHA compliant facility in order to ensure on-time production. You will also be responsible for identifying areas for process improvement, making production suggestions to the Facility and Equipment Director, and training team members on the safe and efficient operation of equipment. This position reports to the Facility and Equipment Director. Responsibilities Oversee and perform the maintenance on the manufacturing equipment which includes finished goods production, automated packaging, ingredient production, and R&D laboratory equipment. Support the Facility and Equipment Director in the building systems maintenance program. Maintain documentation and corrective actions for all equipment repairs or disruptions. Make recommendations for corrective actions and train staff members on those corrective actions. Make equipment repairs, identify and coordinate third party contractors for maintenance as needed with manager approval. Design and implement the equipment preventative maintenance program. Manage equipment replacement parts inventory and forecasting, and direct parts procurement to avoid production interruption. Monitor and record production area environmental conditions, and coordinate necessary repairs and/or adjustments with the facility team. Implement, install, and enforce safety protocols for employees operating in finished goods production, including equipment operation safety. Implement and ensure compliance with all OSHA regulatory requirements and in keeping with the facility OSHA program. Coordinate with Production Manager on training, safety, and production scheduling. Make recommendations for continuous process improvement of equipment and production operations. Serve as a team leader in the training and adoption of continuous improvement protocols. Participate in cross departmental collaboration to evaluate ways we can service client special requests such as unique formulas, form factors, and/or packaging solutions. Approach cross departmental collaboration with an open mind, active listening, and a solution driven attitude. Participate in regular communication with the team in its production IT platforms including Acumatica, Slack, G-suite (sheets, docs, e-mail etc), and Isolved (training and employee hours management). Deploy and implement a rigorous culture of quality control and collaborate with the quality team to ensure compliance with with the numerous certifications at the facility including, but not limited to cGMP (111 and 117), PCQI, Organic, Halal, Kosher, NASC. Support quality assurance department during customer and regulatory audits as needed. Skills and Abilities Technical experience maintaining and repairing equipment in a cGMP and OSHA compliant production environment. Experience in monitoring manufacturing operations. Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations. Experience in implementing Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) in a manufacturing environment. Proficient in MS Office and ERP software. Outstanding communication ability. Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Attention to detail, and a natural problem solver with a solutions-driven approach. Education and Experience Minimum 5 years relevant experience in maintenance and/or facility engineering. HS graduate required, college or technical degree preferred. Additional Details This is a full-time position based out of Roxboro, NC or Raleigh/Durham, NC. Flexibility to work days/evenings/weekends depending on production schedules required. Physical Demands and Working Environment May be required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time (4-6 hours) with frequent kneeling and bending.
