Specimen Processor/Phlebotomist

Description:
We are seeking a Specimen Processor/Phlebotomist to join our Baltimore, MD team on a full-time basis! In this role you are responsible for specimen collection and processing and storage. Specimen Processing Receives, centrifuge, aliquot and store laboratory specimen in compliance with the IRB approved protocol and the final version of the protocol-specific laboratory manual. Documents each stage of PK processing (i.e., in/out centrifuge, etc.). Affix specimen labels to PK cryovial tubes prior to initiating the specimen processing. Organize PK Cryovials. Phlebotomy Prepares, verifies, and completes sample requisitions. Orders and accessions specimens for processing. Collect laboratory specimen which may include blood, urine, saliva and stool, etc. Understands the appropriate collection system, order of draw, and amount of specimen required for specified tests. Properly explains process and performs venipuncture and other specimen collection as required using multiple collection methods. Transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner and with any special conditions met as needed. Observe and follow all safety regulations. Work Environment: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; works in a temperature-controlled laboratory, however is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. Required Education & Experience: High School graduate or equivalent, plus completion of Phlebotomy Training. Must have at least 2 years of experience in Specimen processing 1 year of experience in Phlebotomy.
