Come join our team! We are hiring! We are currently hiring a Referral Specialist - Dental Clinic in Milwaukee, WI. This is a full-time position that does not require working late nights, weekends, or holidays! Hours: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5pm Why Progressive Community Health Centers? More than 100 employees support our agency's mission to improve the health and quality of life of the community by providing culturally competent services that address identified needs. We provide high quality, comprehensive care to roughly 16,000 patients annually, a majority of who are low-income. No one is ever turned away from our clinics based on insurance status or ability to pay. We value a patient-centered philosophy and provide range of services that include family medicine, internal medicine, women's health, urgent care, dental, radiology and integrated behavioral health. We also offer supportive services such as case management, health education and benefits enrollment. JOB SUMMARY To assist patients, providers, clinical staff in understanding what their insurance carrier requires and the coordinating benefits. Acts as; the liaison to insure pleasant and prompt communications in the transition of care. The Dental Referral Specialists will verify insurance and be required to complete prior authorization on behalf of patient's insurance plans. Responsibilities Verifies insurance are correct Verifies that the referred specialists are included in the carriers plan; if not, redirect patient/provider to an in-plan provider Verifies specialist's appointments regarding insurance acceptance and obtains referrals if required. Acts as a liaison between hospital, health plans, dentist, patients, vendors and other referrals sources. Reviews referrals for completeness and follows up for additional information if necessary. Keeps up-to-date on insurance changes. Maintain accurate follow-up files on patient involving referral to an external dental provider indicating the date of the call, letter, or any correspondence that took place. Documents all referrals in the patient's chart using Wisdom. Informs providers and patients of any referrals that have been denied. Maintains and manages dental recall roster. Requirements High school graduate or equivalent, with a completion of a Dental Assistant Certification program, from an accredited technical college or State training program. At least 2 years of on-the-job training and/or experience with healthcare insurance in a clinic, or dentist's office. Experience in a community health, public health, or in a community hospital a plus. It is mandatory that all employees, employed providers and volunteers are vaccinated. All hired candidates must submit proof of vaccination prior to their orientation. This is a mandatory requirement for Progressive Community Health Centers. The purpose is to minimize exposure to and transmission of COVID-19 and the influenza virus in the workplace by providing occupational protection to employees and thereby preventing exposure to members of the community, which we serve.
