Are you an individual that likes to drive large vehicles at a fast (but safe!) pace through driving snow during the winter? Or who would enjoy utilizing powered equipment in the summer to maintain our great roadways? Join the elite team of the GT County Road Maintenance Crew. We are looking for both full-time, year-round crew members but also those who may be interested in seasonal snowplow work in the winter. Currently we have the positions of Heavy Equipment Operators and Road Maintenance Workers open. The Equipment Operators and Road Maintenance Workers make up our crew who works to provide and maintain a safe road system. We are looking for a candidate who would like more flexibility in the summer with more traditional "weekday" hours to enjoy their family, friends and beautiful Northern Michigan while the weather is good. And who would enjoy more overtime in the winter when roads need to be cleared and cleaned based on weather. Additionally, this job provides the stability of year-round work. These are tiered positions based on experience. We are accepting applications for all tiers. Heavy Equipment Operator rates start at $24.09 per hour and go up to $26.05 per hour. Road Maintenance Worker rates start at $21.42 and go up to $23.16 per hour. Types of equipment operated includes grader, excavator, backhoe, loader, bucket truck and skid-steer Duties include maintenance and repair of highways, streets and roads. In addition, this role operates a snowplow with the use of a benching wing during the winter months For full list of duties, please see the job description posted on our website Candidates must possess a CDL A Experience in construction and operating heavy equipment a plus Dependent on weather and conditions, the ideal candidates must be willing and available to work overtime and be on-call during all times of day, night, weekends and holidays, especially during the winter months.
