General Description The purpose of this class within the organization is to trim, maintain and/or remove City owned trees and to perform various maintenance and/or custodial tasks. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures. Duties and Responsibilities The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Essential Functions: Strives to be efficient and effective at balancing and meeting the common needs and reasonable expectations of core constituents . Contributes towards the department's mission by continuously striving to meet expectations, strategic goals and objectives. Trims, maintains and/or removes trees from the City's Right of Way and/or property; operates forestry bucket and wood chipper. Completes work orders provided by supervisor and collaborates with others to get the job done properly. Works with and serves the public on a daily basis. Assists other departments and works with other crews in tree removal and/or emergency situations. Maintains equipment. Performs related work as assigned. Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Requires two years of bucket operating experience or closely related experience.
