Title: Certified Surgical First Assist Employment Type: Full Time Work Hours: Monday through Friday, primarily 8-hour shifts, between 6:00 am - 5:00 pm On-call rotation for after-hours, weekends, and holidays City: Bettendorf State: Iowa We care about our employees! Position Responsibilities: Assists surgeons as directed in surgical procedures; anticipating their needs for surgical instruments and supplies Closing surgical wounds as directed by the surgeon Assists in instrument, equipment, and supply cleaning and preparation for sterilization Participating in call duties as scheduled Working in clinic with providers and clinical staff Responsible for drawing up and assisting with injections Responsible for removing staples and sutures and performing dressing changes Responsible for ordering x-rays, along with splint and cast applications and removals Educating patients and their caregivers regarding specific care as instructed by the physician Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent is required Surgical First Assist Certification is required One year of prior orthopedic surgical experience is preferred Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols Knowledge of medical terminology Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds Ability to work evenings and weekends as scheduled Ability to travel between ORA clinics and area hospitals as needed ORA Orthopedics is the Quad Cities' largest and most comprehensive orthopedic provider, proudly offering an integrated continuum of orthopedic care that includes orthopedic sub-specialty clinics, walk-in care at our Urgent OrthoCARE clinics, diagnostic imaging, bracing, physical therapy, pharmacy and outpatient surgery.
