ShelterCare's Maintenance Department of Eugene, OR is seeking to hire an Assistant Facilities Manager to provide skilled work in the form of carpentry, minor plumbing, painting, and mechanical repair work. Our Maintenance Department is expanding and we need more help! The Maintenance Department keeps our many program sites up and running smoothly, working on offices, landscaping, and client living units on ShelterCare-owned properties. In addition to daily maintenance tasks, candidate will be trained to incorporate the facilities Manager position. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS The Assistant facilities Manager earns a competitive wage of $18.27 - $22.50/hr depending on experience. This is a non-exempt, hourly position that would transition to an exempt position upon advancing to the Facilities Manager position. Prorated for employees working less than 40 hours a week. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS AN ASSISTANT FACILITIES MANAGER As a Maintenance Technician, you will do both indoor and outdoor painting. You will repair drywall, perform dry-rot repair, frame doors, install windows, and perform floor repair including underlayment, tile, carpet and vinyl replacement. You will also do some minor plumbing, such as clearing drains and toilets, replacing hot water tanks, faucets, shower valves, etc. You'll perform many mechanical repair tasks, such as replacing, repairing and cleaning exhaust fans, dryer ducts and vents, and servicing existing furnaces, filters, etc. You will change outlets, Switches, GFI"s, fixtures; you'll rebuild heaters, thermostats, change bulbs & ballast, etc. Additional training will include scheduling and overseeing all maintenance-related work, plan and oversee all repair and installation activities, contact and schedule outside vendors as needed, manage budgets, and perform administrative tasks as required. It's very important to note that you'll be interacting with ShelterCare clients on a daily basis. Most of ShelterCare's clients have either a history of homelessness or serious mental illness. Other major aspects of your position will include consistent attendance is an essential function of the job. The Maintenance Team works as a team and relies on each other's good attendance. You'll keep accurate time logs, with division for facilities; purchase required materials, utilizing agency purchase orders; and complete required paperwork. Finally, you'll be asked to maintain your assigned vehicle in a reasonable manner. As an Assistant Facilities Manager, you'll love being able to make a difference in the lives of those you serve! QUALIFICATIONS Required Aptitude for learning quickly Must be able to work on ladders, scaffolding, lifts, etc. Be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds for an extended period of time Must be available for weekly rotating on-call schedule Ability to drive agency vehicles Ability to successfully pass a DHS background check Preferred Knowledge of fencing, furniture refinishing and preventative maintenance Computer literate Prior management experience Experience working with individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness WORK SCHEDULE: The schedule for this full-time position is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm .
