Learn more about us in this video: https://bit.ly/3juttFa and visit our website: https://www.smeinc.com/ Job Snapshot: Laboratory sample receipt and processing Compaction testing of soil Physical characteristics testing of soil and aggregate Compressive strength testing of soil, rock, concrete and other cementitious material Daily use of Metafield®, and/or other field and laboratory information management systems, for recording of testing results Calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards Performance of laboratory testing in compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and/or project specifications Communication of field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services Project Management staff, contractors, and clients NOTE: While the primary responsibilities of this position are performed in the laboratory, testing and observations on construction sites can be required, based on workload and project needs Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing), using the English language Math and computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to routinely lift 40 to 50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment) Ability to work and maneuver handheld tools and equipment (such as a loaded wheelbarrow/buckets on uneven ground, power tools, etc). Ability and willingness to prepare for and pass applicable certification examinations such as ACI Strength, NICET Soils, etc. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with construction materials and processes Why work at S&ME?
